Thank You Cards

November 14th, 2007 @ 2:43 pm by Mrs. Caramel

For the past few days I’ve been working on our thank you cards.  I really wanted to hand write regular cards since no one really seems to do that anymore, but the photo card idea is  so convenient! Plus you save stamp money by using post card postage instead of regular postage.  I asked our photographer to send me 3 hi-resolution digital images from our wedding and threw it onto photoshop to play around with.

Here’s what I came up with:

m118174

I wanted one side to be a “Hello!” picture and the other one a “Goodbye!” type picture. I bought the HP Premium Plus Photo Paper and printed them, and the quality looks great! If you ever do this at home, make sure that you use a hi-res digital image because otherwise the quality will suffer. I used the same font that was on our wedding invitations, which is Bickham Script MM. (I also learned to always buy pre-cut paper because I had so much trouble cutting our wedding maps!)

It was a fun, easy project. :)

Would you still handwrite a note on the back?

very cute! i would probably handwrite a note on the back to make it more personal and to acknowledge that you “like” their gift.

i got married early september and we JUST finished the design of them - i think they’re going to be just as complex as our invitations!

our photographer set up a vintage type photo”booth” and i made collages out of the results. we’re going to paste them to brown paper that was used for our programs, and glue ribbons to the inside so we can slip in their guestbook picture in as well as paste the the paper for a handwritten thank you.

Very cute!! I still write thank you notes, though! I mean, if someone took the time (and spent the money) to give me a gift, the least I can do is spend a few minutes writing them a personal note of thanks.

I think these are very nice to send to guests so they have a beautiful photo of your day. But at the same time, I know in my area and social circle people would be highly offended if this was the only thank you they got for both attending a wedding and for a gift. Just because everyone is doing something doesn’t make it right!

I hope I don’t sound haughty… I just think handwritten, thoughtful Thank You’s are one of those undebatable things.

Yes, we are still writing personal notes on the back! Like someone said — it’s the least we can do for receiving such great gifts. And for our parents’ friends (who are not really with the digital generation) I think we’re still giving them an old fashioned card and envelope.

These style cards seem to be very popular among baby birthdays, christmas cards and weddings. People usually stick these on their fridges!

Oh and I have an HP C3100 all in one printer (I think) that came free with my macbook.

They look great. I know people who use them all the time for christmas cards, but I prefer the fold style with the picture on front for thank you notes. It feels a little more impersonal when it’s a post card style with just a note on the back, but maybe that’s just me.

Are you putting these in envelopes or just sending them “postcard style?” Because I’d like to do postcards for our RSVPs to save postage but I didn’t know if sending photo paper through the mail would work - on its own. So I was going to print them on the pre-cut Avery postcard template, which is still a little flimsy, but I’m going to do some test mailings. We’re an August wedding so I have some time! Any suggestions would be great!

Hi Mrs. Caramel,

I absolutely love your blog! I especially like the curly hair one. However I am very interested in buying the same shoes you wore. They are beautiful. Can you please email me at thanh.t11@gmail.com with info on the shoes? I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
