My Wedding MVPs

November 15th, 2007 @ 1:56 pm by Mrs. Emerald

MVP = Most Valuable Products. Let me tell you about the 3 items that were absolutely indispensible during my months of wedding planning and DIY heaven.

Cutterpede trimmer. The white attachment is the slicer, while the pink attachment scores the paper to create perfect folds and creases. Thank goodness I borrowed this from my crafty sister-in-law, because I used this on nearly every project! Available at your neighborhood craft store, or online.

Corner Rounder. I absolutely LOVE the look of rounded corners, so this little guy was my friend (and occassionally my worst enemy). I used him on everything from invitations to menu cards, to placecards to programs… the list goes on and on. But notice the little vertical grooves on the punch area. Those grooves actually made the process rather painful on my fingers (and Mr. E’s fingers). There a zillion different types, and next time I would look for one like this.

Lastly, and most importantly, my little black book.

Yeah, I know, it looks like crap. Could I have picked a more UN-wedding-y notebook? Probably not, haha… but this book kept me sane. I have a very short term memory span. I will think, “Oh, I need to do X….” and then 2 minutes later, I will have completely forgotten about it. So everytime that happened, I immediately wrote every thought and To-DO item down in this book. I also made list after list after list. It was extremely handy when I needed to remember appointments, or to keep track of phone numbers, or came across an interesting website that I wanted to refer to later on. My advice - write it ALL down!! This seriously saved me a lot of headache and served as a back-up to my very forgetful tendencies!!

What are your MVPs?!

I have the impress rubber stamp corner punch and I LOVE it! I am trying to come up with a reason to round some corners post wedding and can’t! Mr. Onion would kill me if I ended up rounding the corners of our bills! haha.

You already showed two of mine! HA! The cutter and the corner rounder!
Good idea about the notepad though!
True I guess it doesn’t have to be all fancy!
Probably better if it’s small so you can always have it in your purse! I need to follow that advice!

Oh and one other thing, my google calender that I share with my man! That way he can access it too and see all our dates! It really helps him!

Mrs. Emerald: I have the same corner rounder, do you have problems getting it to cut through cardstock? I keep trying, and its really difficult to get it to punch through!

Shellypants - YES, its the darn cardstock that was difficult!! I set the rounder on a table, slipped in the cardstock, and used my palm and body weight to punch through. Thats why I left most of the cardstock punching to Mr. E… all 110 program corners ( x 4 punches per program)… his fingers/palms were red after doing them. He wanted to do them all in one sitting, even though I kept telling him to do 10-15 a day!

I gotta say, the Creative Memories corner rounder is The Best. I use Fiskars on just about everything else, but the CM corner rounder is worth it.

You can “oil” your rounder (or punches) by cutting waxed paper, and sharpen it by cutting aluminum foil.

This reminds me: I have hella honeymoon scrapbooking to do!

I too have the tiny ghetto notebook–people buy me pretty wedding planners and here I have this ugly spiral thing that is falling apart.
One of the things that I’ve found SO helpful is having an email account just for wedding stuff, especially as I’ve tried to track down specific dresses and shoes. They’re not filling up my work inbox and whenever I check it I can just be in wedding land. Free and simple and life saving.
