Shoe Hunt - You Decide!

November 15th, 2007 @ 8:23 am by Mrs. Penguin

Zappos.com is DANGEROUS. You clickety click on shoes that you adore, and BAM! The next day they show up at your doorstep. I may never set foot in a retail shoe store again. Anyway, the official hunt for my wedding shoes has begun. I don’t have really specific shoe requirements… only that the higher they are, the better. So here are my front-runners:

A. Daniblack “Rosalina.” I think it would be no contest that these are “the one” save for the fact that these only have a 3.5 inch heel. And standing at 5’2″, I need all the help I can get.

B. Stuart Weitzman “Exciting”. Exciting, indeed. These have a 4.5 inch heel and are comfortable too. But are they tipping the scales toward “call girl”?

2nd ones are definitely too call girl. Love the first ones, even if not for the wedding!

I like the first ones, but if they are too short, they’re too short (I know what you mean too, I stand only an inch taller than you… and MT. T is 6′2″!).

As for the second one, I like them, but generally, I’m not a fan of straps around the ankle area (unless they are lower). Straps there tend to make us short gals look shorter. :(

gotta agree the 2nd ones are too callgirlish but LOVE the first ones. I say neither are the one, because height is a big factor (i want as short as possible for comfort but blue!) keep looking, you’ll find the one

love the first ones but the second ones are not so good. I think that they’re too dark for a wedding, coloured shoes look great but dark, almost black shoes look a bit weird.

Keep looking!

Love the second ones for a hot night out… but not for a wedding. The first ones are fantastic!!
I cannot imagine 3.5″ heels not being tall enough! I’m 5′7 and the Mr. is 5′10, so I’m not allowed to wear heels taller than 1.5-2″. :-P Frankly, that’s fine with me — I don’t understand how heels that high can be comfortable! More power to you!

I also love the first pair!!! They’re sexy but not over the top and the color is fantastic!

I totally get you on wanting heels as high as possible– I’m 5′2ish and Mr. Jasmine is 6′2. I love, love the first pair though– they are divine. The second pair is really cute too, but I think more for a hot night out.

The second ones are definitely too call girl. LOVE the first ones — do they go well with your dress?

I can’t imagine 3.5 inches not being tall enough. I’m 5′0″ and Mr. Onion is 5′10″ almost 5′11″ and I had to take off my beautiful wedding heels because they were killing me by the reception. Any higher (mine were about the same height) and I would have died.

I love the second ones but not as wedding shoes (just my personal opinion), but I don’t know what your dres is or what your “theme” is so I can’t judge them as wedding shoes.
They are cute!
I personally don’t like the bow(?) on the front of the blue ones.

Lol, ok, I’m not sure that I see the second ones as being “call girl-ish” myself, but I agree that I don’t love them with a wedding gown…

What were you going for in terms of shoes with your wedding dress? That may help me a bit! I only ask because the two shoes are so different from each other.

I cannot even explain the love I have for the first ones. The color is completely amazing! Lady-like with a dash of sexy.

Both shoes are great - but not for the wedding. You dress is beautiful and elegant. Try to find a pair of shoes that echoes that.

First ones! Thats still a pretty good height heel-and might still be somewhat comfortable then. Theyre adorable. I have to admit the second ones did say ‘call girl’ to me haha

Thanks so much everyone for your input! Its good to hear that even though most people prefer the blue shoes, theres not overwhelming support that they’re “the one”. I really do love them and will be really happy to wear them on my wedding day should I not be able to find another pair!

I’m going to keep them tucked away and keep hunting…

as for the Weitzmans, I’m shipping them back to Zappos today! Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback!

Sara, thanks for the input about how dark shoes look against white dresses. No wonder you dont see it more often!

and here’s my dress, for those who missed it:

I also failed to mention that I dont typically look good in strappy delicate sandals because of my giant caveman club feet :) So I’ll probably lean towards “shoes” over “sandals”. Gotta work with what you’ve got!

Oh, yes, and of course for the reception, I’m just going to put on a heinous old ratty pair of rocket dogs. They give me all the height with none of the pain. I can only be a slave to fashion for 2 hours or so. After that, its partytime, yeah!

One cool thing with Stuart Weiztmans… if you use them as wedding shoes you can bring them to a SW store to get your & hubby’s initials (with heart around it) & wedding date glued in blue swarovski crystals on the bottom of the shoes. Not sure of the cost though- my store conveinently forgot to charge my amex as a wedding gift to us.

i love the first, but i’m a bit biased. i am barely 5′2″, and i wore 3.5″ heels on my day, which was enough. however, i usually wear flats or low heels on a daily basis due to laziness/aversion to pain. ;)

I bought those same daniblack shoes for my wedding! I really like them, however, Zappos will take returns for 365 days, so…. my plan is to hang on to them for now, and if I find taller ones I like better then send ‘em on back! Maybe that could be your plan too. :)
