We still have a few thank you cards to send out to relatives who live overseas and couldn’t make it to our wedding. Rather than send them a few 4 x 6 photos from our wedding, I wanted to create a keepsake holiday card that would highlight some of our favorite photos.

I checked out popular websites selling photocards, such as tiny prints, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly, iPrint, Photobucket, Zazzle, QOOP, and VistaPrint, and I was most impressed with Zazzle’s photocards. Most photocards come as flat cards and I really wanted to get a folded 5 x 7 that would present well as a holiday card. I liked Zazzle the most because there’s a lot of flexibility in the design and how many photos you can include per card. There’s really no limit what you can do - you can create a very simple design by just inserting a photo, or you can create your own design using software such as Photoshop or Illustrator.

Here’s an example of a design I created that didn’t pass the final cut. I added a background along with our wedding photo using Adobe Photoshop, saved the image and uploaded it to the Zazzle website. The image was centered in the middle of the blank template and text/background color was added below and above using Zazzle’s tools.

Here’s the final result! A detailed shot of the front cover.

The inside cover created simply using the fonts and colors provided by Zazzle.com.

The exterior back design of the card.

The photocards look great - the front cover has a glossy finish and the inside has a fine matte finish.

Zazzle provides a lot of great promotions, so I only paid $1.50 for each of these photocards. It is such a deal and the quality of the cards are excellent. :)

They also had a great promotion on postage stamps, so we ordered a few sheets.. Just upload your photo to the website and it’s as simple as that!

For the wedding party I decided to add mini photobooks designed by QOOP.

Landscape photos work best with these mini photobooks, and you can insert up to 20 pages of photos per book. You can add pages for an extra 15 cents per page.

mrs. bell pepper — these came out so well. i used zazzle for monogram stamps for our wedding invitations and was thinking about wedding photo stamps for xmas cards myself. i’ve never looked at their greeting card options, but yours came out sooo well. if you’re not really photoshop savvy, do you think they’d be as nice? do they have nice templates you can use?

also, i’ve never heard of QOOP. do you mind sharing what the base cost of the mini books are? another compnay i’d recommend highly is http://www.mpix.com. they have hard cover and soft cover books. i plan on making 5×5 hard cover books for my mother and MIL to carry in their purse so when their friends ask “oh, i’d love to see pictures” they have them handy!

hey mrs. onion,

you can make the templates as simple as you would like or you can use templates made by zazzle. i think they are offering a great deal on holiday photocards and they might have new holiday frames or templates.

the qoop minibooks are pretty good as gifts, usually they run around 3-5 bucks per book, and they usually come in a pack of 3 books. the quality is pretty good as a gift.

tea, the quality of the books are pretty good. it feels like a mini softcover blurb/my publisher book quality. the great thing is the cost, only a few bucks per book. i think it’s a great idea for thank you gifts for the wedding party, etc.

If only I thought of this before I had already purchased my ‘Thank You Cards’. But, we did create photocards from moo.com for those guests that gave us purchased gifts rather than money. We took pictures of us using their gifts… we got lots of nice feedback from those guests.
