About Mrs. Toucan

How Exciting!!!!!

November 16th, 2007 @ 1:39 pm by Mrs. Toucan

I was talking to a fellow bride the other day about how it’s really odd how easily we get excited about completing a wedding-related task - ANY wedding-related task. You know, even the really small things that only someone planning a wedding would get excited about.

For example:

Hooray, I ordered my cake topper today!!!

OR

I found the perfect ribbon for my ring bearer’s pillow!!!”

As a bride-to-be, either of these kinds of things would probably make me sing “yay-yay-yay-yay!” inside, and I’d be giddy the whole day. I really feel like only brides understand this (who else would be excited over a spool of ribbon?). However, as a person who doesn’t have very many engaged or married friends, I often don’t have an outlet (other than blogging) to express these small victories. So as a FUN FRIDAY post, I thought we could all share what little (or big) things we’re excited about.

Here I go (don’t laugh!):

I’m excited that tonight Mr. Toucan and I are picking out our outfits for our engagement photo session on Sunday. (eeeeeee!)

What are you excited and giddy about right now? Feel free to tell us even the ridiculous stuff, we won’t judge. ;)

I got excited over a spool of ribbon; it was dark red and pale green and perfect. :)

That is so true, Ms. Toucan! I was so excited when I got my cake topper in the mail after waiting for three long weeks! I called my fiance immediately to let him know, and his response to my over-excited screechy voice was “okaaaayyyy.” Men! They just don’t understand! HAHA

Our wedding is a year and a half away but today my FI and I are taking our first official tour of a reception site. No, we probably won’t make a decision today, but even just going makes me terribly giddy!

Fun post Miss Toucan! Wednesday (2 days ago) was 4 months to the date for our wedding day, yippy!!! I was giddy all day and sent FI a Happy Almost Wedding Day e-mail - he thinks I’m crazy. :)

I found the most perfect hairpin ever earlier in the week, and felt, as you say, a crazy sense of satisfaction over it. But it is so perfect for my gown, a tiny detail that just…clicked and made me feel creative and, just for a second, the tiniest bit in control with the wedding just two weeks away. Like perhaps the small details will combine to have a big impact.

I just came up with an invitation idea (i.e. saw something I could coopt on a knotty bio). When I saw the idea I was soooo excited - I was looking for something REALLY different since we’re having a small destination wedding so have room to make the DIY projects seriously complicated. I called my fiance who suggested we send out friends 6-packs instead, then I called my mom who was properly excited. Now I know whom I should call first! As an aside have you noticed that when you mention you own wedding ideas to your (recently) married friends - they seem to automatically compare them to their own wedding and then start defending their choices. I feel like I am constantly saying “YOUR wedding was absolutely perfect and SO YOU,” and inside thinking “now listen to me for a minute.”

I’ve been anxiously anticipating the arrival of the fabric swatches for my dress. When they arrived yesterday, I opened the mail and let out a little squeal because I was so happy that one of them was absolutely perfect! Bob just rolled his eyes. Sheesh. Boys!

We had so much fun picking out our outfits. In fact we had fashion show night. I would put on an outfit and walk through the living room, then sit on the couch. He would do the same. Then of course we both had to check ourselves out together!

That was the only thing FI got really excited about. That and we could walk into the reception with the Star Wars theme.

I was super excited to get my return address stamp in the mail on Monday from sweetpapery on etsy for once I get married!! It is seriously so cute I was jumping up and down and clapping :) Luckily I live alone so no one thought I was crazy!! FI just said, ‘Oh that’s good’ when I told him. Seriously Men!!

I can totally relate!…Just today I caught the preview of the Macy’s sale and was able to get some great jewelry for my bridesmaids and moms at awesome sale prices!….I’m not sure which I was more excited about - getting such great deals or checking off another wedding “to-do”…..lol

Something else that made me giddy today:

Mr. T saw my post and said, “I have to admit I’m kinda excited too!”

I’m taking my friends out to brunch & spa sessions… And I’m going to officially ask them to be my bridesmaids!! I know they will all say “yes”, but I wanted to make it official and special.

We went perusing for save the date ideas last weekend at Papyrus… when I found an invitation idea I LOVED… I started squealing to the FI to take pictures of it, and he just smiled and shook his head. hehe He did like it too though.

I totally agree Miss Toucan! I just got an email telling me that my embossers have shipped and I immediately picked up the phone to call my FI. He was as excited as me!

I found the corner punch for my placecards that I was looking at online on an off chance at Target! I couldn’t believe it! I thought I would have to order it online and pay shipping (which I hate!). I was sooo excited! I went back to work and started punching and showing everyone how my placecards would look like at my wedding in 7 months!!! Yes, I’m crazy! Hahahah!

I am excited because I’ll have my pro pics by Monday (or at least that what she said). Mr. Onion told me not to expect them until Tuesday — that way I won’t be bummed out if they are “late” but will be super excited if they are “early!” ;)

What a fun post. You are so right! Our wedding is some distance away so we are shipping many of the items for the wedding. Today we boxed up about 10 boxes. We probably only have 2 left. Yeah!!! I cannot tell you how good that felt. Also right now (as I type this) I am printing out the programs. When this are done, I will feel much relief.
