About Mrs. Gummi Bear

Post Wedding Silence.

November 16th, 2007 @ 11:04 am by Mrs. Gummi Bear

I have no excuses! I’ve been gone because I didn’t have any pro photos to show you! But it has been a full month since the day of and we are… still working on those thank you cards, I swear.

Besides the daily “did we get photos yet?” question I ask Mr. GB, I have been focusing on decorating the house, as I did before the wedding (and promised myself I wouldn’t do during the planning, but did anyway). And what better time wasting activity is there than painting a room!

I’ve been meaning to paint a few of the rooms, but it’s really daunting to get up on a ladder and get the ceiling, or to cover the floors… and as much as I love picture rails, masking them off on both sides is pain in the ass. Alas, to get me to shut up about not having any wedding crafts to do, constantly whining about not having photos, and not having things to talk about on weddingbee…. Mr. GB agreed to break his back and paint the bedroom with me. He’s so good that he let me pick the color without a peep about how bright it is.

I can’t seem to ease myself back down from the hummingbird state of running to my calendar to see what appointments I have this week, or making up really dumb reasons to pull out my gocco or paper cutter…

What did you do to ease yourself back from DIY/Planning/Overbooked schedule into a normal life? Is there wedding rehab? Am I allowed to go to my photographer’s house and start bawling uncontrollably, or that considered rude?

ps. I’m getting so stir-crazy I feel like lending out my services to my friends who are planning weddings, although I realize I had craft slaves to help me, and I don’t think they’d appreciate being passed along like meat.

I’m decorating our house too! We got cash gifts from several relatives, so we bought some new furniture and painted our living room almost exactly the same color as you did! (he thought it was bright too, but got used to it)

Also, I’m designing our wedding album. It’s helping me ease into a “no crafts” period.

Your rooms look great! Sadly, I didn’t have much to do after our wedding. I think I drove people crazy. By the time I let the post-wedding crazies go, several of my family and friends were getting married and I found myself useful.

Mrs. GB,

I really like your style of home decoration.. it reminds me of this lady’s house on flickr that I love

I became addicted to all the wedding blogs AFTER our wedding was over, if that makes any sense. I guess it was my way to detox from planning my own wedding.

Mrs. GB,

The place looks fantabulous! I think we’re neighbors. I live by Lake Merritt too. But our wedding will be in Oakland.

Can you refer your pae baek vendor to me?

tanya: bright = happy! oddly, mr. gb thinks if I had gone lighter, it wouldn’t have worked!

bop: I’d love to design my own house… except, I think i’m such an anal spaz it’d kill me. But the thought of it is nice in my brain. :)

angel: I spend my time thinking “don’t think about weddings…” so that I don’t talk about them anymore. at least then i’ll just be crazy in my head and no one else will know… except all of weddingbee.

dengmeimei: I’ve seen those! They are amazing, I’m so jealous of people who get to live in the middle of textile HEAVEN!!! But thanks for sending it to me again, there are some ideas in there that I think I might have to borrow.

ourspecialday: I’m trying my hardest not to look at any blogs except this one. It takes everything I have to not pick up wedding mags anymore!

ihs: we probably are! I’m on the north east side, which I like to call the good side - although, it’s just to make me feel better that I’m not right by the whole foods. Sadly, all my Korean ceremony arrangements were made by my parents, either borrowed from family or members of the congregation at their church, sorry. :(

tea: Thanks! If she does, I’m there - decorating the house is the only thing that keeps me from going crazy. I bet all the other bees have amazing homes with all the great design that goes into their weddings!
