The final decision on our linens has been made — Green? Pink? Heck, why not both?I went ahead and chose an iridescent crushed satin sorbet tablecloth that looks pink sometimes and green others, depending from which angle one looks at it. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to tell from these pictures, but the first two are meant to show more the pink side of it, while the third picture reflects the green more.
I’m glad I got a chance to see a full table mock-up and try out all kinds of different combinations. In that last shot, you can see from the stacks upon the table that I also tried the table out with cushions and napkins in two different shades of pink, the same color as the tablecloth, green, and white, too. To break things up a bit and not completely sicken Mr. Petunia and any other men present with all things pink, I went with the ivory cushions and napkins.
Also, I was given the great advice of asking our venue to only bring out coffee cups upon request (less white on the table this way and less clutter) rather than having them out on the table from the get-go, especially since there already won’t be any other plates out because we’re having a buffet.
The one fly in the ointment? The hotel is giving me a hard time about the cushions being delivered a day in advance and being picked up the day after, even though they themselves requested the linen be there ahead of time. Turns out they meant only the tablecloths & napkins but not the cushions — ???
I’m in negotiations about this at the moment. Having the cushions delivered and picked up on a Sunday would cost us an extra $300 all on its own (about half of what the entire rental itself will cost!) and it’s really beyond me why a relatively large hotel can otherwise house linen for two extra days, at their request even, but not also 100 cushions…
