What To Do About An Updo?

November 19th, 2007 @ 6:28 pm by Mrs. Jasmine

I’ve always harbored a mild obsession with my hair. When I was young, I never knew what to do with my straight-yet-wavy, jet black, super thick hair. I finally discovered the joys of great shampoo, conditioner, and hair products and I’ve never looked back! It’s taken me many years to figure out my hair but we’re finally friends :)

So, as you can imagine, I’m taking my wedding day updo very seriously. On the big day, I will be putting my faith in the fab Sherry McAnelly, master of makeup and hair and all around sweetheart. I have a few wedding day hair requirements, namely:

1) My hair needs to be pulled all the way back or have a middle part, so I can wear a tika in the middle of my forehead. No side part for me.

2) I want a big updo– lots of fullness and drama. I’m growing my hair long for a reason!

Here are some looks I love so far:

Which one is your favorite? Any other suggestions of updos I may like?

I love the third one from the bottom. So classic and clean! Can’t wait to see how it will look with the tika.

my favorite is the one of jessica alba. everything is in place and there aren’t loose, falling strands everywhere. it looks very polished and pretty.

Kate Beckensale and Jessica Alba as well. I love how they are “done” without being “overpolished”. It definitely depends on your personality and wedding day style, of course…cause if youre going for a more “formal” sleek look, then definitely 3rd from the bottom (cant tell who it is…sarah michelle gellar?) All these hairstyles are gorgeous! Thanks for the finds!

Also LOVE the Kate Beckinsdale one (but in my eyes she never has a bad hair day - ever). I also really like Kate Moss’s center part that has a slight wave and not a total flat and slicked back look. It would look really nice with the tika.
I like Jessica Alba’s from the back view but not so much in front, and not sure how you could wear the tika.

My vote is for Penelope Cruz…very sophisticated, and would look great with the tika.

I’m not a fan of the tousled look, as it tends to sometimes look messy (but not in a good way) in photos.

Penelope Cruz’s front with Catherine Zeta-Jones’ back– sleek in the front to show off the tika, but soft in the back for balance.

That said, it really depends on the shape of your face and how your hair wants to sit naturally.

i say the penelope cruz… love the detail of the braid and i agree it would look best with your accessories… because theyre so ornate you should keep your hair sleek and simple!

I think that with your strong and gorgeous features you’d look best with a more sleek look - so my vote is third up from the bottom. :-)
