A Great Deal On Our Bridesmaids Dresses

November 20th, 2007 @ 10:28 am by Mrs. Daffodil

After months of surfing the net and visiting bridal salons, we finally decided on a dress! Before I reveal what we ended up choosing, I thought I’d share the dresses that made it to the top of the list.

The Siri “Natasha”…absolutely love the hidden pockets!

Watters and Watters style #7415

And the Vera Wang lamé cocktail dress

We left thinking that we were going to get the Vera Wang dress… it cost about $250, but we would be able to get a discount and get it for ~$200. It looked super cute on everyone, it came in the right shade of green, and the bridesmaids thought that it’d be worth it to pay a little more for a dress you’d definitely wear again!

That night, however, I was browsing online and checked Ann Taylor (one of my favorite retailers) again, and what did I see…

FINAL EVENT SALE! I couldn’t believe that price… I had definitely checked out all the Ann Taylor dresses before and really liked the “Averie”. However, it was $188 and it was rather simple… I felt like for that price, there might be other nicer dresses out there. But this was a price that we couldn’t beat!!

The next morning, we went to the store to try on the dresses. We loved the Averie in meadow green! Here are my sisters (both who will be MOHs) in the dress…

averie2

We quickly called each bridesmaid to make sure their sizes were still available… as soon as we did so, everyone purchased it right away. The one problem we ran into was that the sashes in honeydew were no longer available online and the store only had two. I had the store check all the other stores to see if they still had a few left over. Lucky for us, there was a store in Texas that had just enough left for all our bridesmaids. I paid for them right then and there, and they shipped it directly to me at home. I got them only two days later!

$75.32 for the dress after tax and s&h, and $8.44 for the sash - a pretty awesome deal, I have to say! I love these dresses… they are the perfect green color and will look so light and fresh next Spring!

I believe that the Ann Taylor sale is still going on now, though they are running out of sizes quickly. Your best bet is to call the closest Ann Taylor store to you that carries the Celebrations line, and ask them to check whether any dresses are still left in the clearance section of other stores.

Nice work Miss Daffodil! We didn’t get those great final sale prices, but my bm’s will also be wearing meadow green Ann Taylor dresses, although most of them will wear different styles…I believe we’ll have one Averie, two Daphne’s, a Daisy and a Chloe! I just love that color, and my ladies looked so pretty in them when they tried them on.

Just a little tip on Ann Taylor- I called them to have them check on sizes for me when I fell in love with one of their dresses. They told me that none of their stores had two of the sizes I needed, so I sadly started looking for a different dress. Then just for the heck of it I called a different store across the country, and waited while the woman checked their racks- they had ALL of the dresses I needed! Moral of the story- I don’t think their databases are very updated or accurate- if you want the dress, try calling the individual stores themselves.
ps. Love the green!

Gosh, I was so aching to buy those for my girls but the wedding is so far away that I could wait until next year’s sale.

I’m letting my bridesmaids pick out their own dresses but informed them about the sale to give them some ideas. Two of them are thinking of getting the Averie. My color is green too. I don’t know about the other bridesmaids, but if I were one, I would get this dress because it’s such a great deal.

Love Ann Taylor and their clearance sales. I bought my girls the cornflower blue Chloe dresses with espresso sashes three weeks before I got engaged! I was just so psyched to get a good deal that I couldn’t wait. I still haven’t “proposed” to my BMs yet either…but they already have dresses waiting for them, so they better say yes! :)

I did the same thing but with the “Chloe” dress in Espresso.

What a stroke of luck! (not to mention a HUGE weight off my shoulders…)

I did the same thing! Averie style dresses in Espresso. My sisters look great in them and the dupioni silk is fabulous. Yes, a total weight off my shoulders for the bridesmaid dresses. Now to find my dress…..

My friend desperately needs an Ann Taylor espresso Averie (double v neck) dress in size 16 or 18. THe other bridesmaids have their dresses, but this size and color is no longer availale from Ann Taylor. We would be happy to buy a used dress. The wedding is May 25, 2008. THanks for your help.

Those dresses appear to be a great deal. MY bargain-hunting fiance jumped right on that train. However, we are short ONE Honeydew Sash from the “Celebrations” Collection. We will be getting married on June 28th, 2008 and Ann Taylor is sold out of this item Nation-wide. I would be willing to pay for the sash as well as shipping fees, if someone would send me a used one. This would be an awesome gift for my future wife and I. Please email me at acurcio80@hotmail.com if this is a possibility. Thank You so much.

My bridesmaids are also wearing the meadow Averie with the honeydew slip, and we are also looking for sashes for them (5), our wedding is June 28th as wekk and we’d be willing to rent them (and pay for shipping here and back so you can resell/save the dress as an ensemble if you wanted to) or buy them.
Thanks so much!

Hi! I have also bought 3 BM dresses in meadow green from Ann Taylor, and would really like to get the honeydew sashes for them. If anyone has new or used ones for sale, then please let me know. I don’t need them until late fall, so no rush. I am willing to wait for those who will be needing them first. Best of luck to all future brides!

I’m in such a pickle! I’ve been admiring the Christine dress from Ann Taylor in Pacific Blue for so long and waiting for them to throw it on sale. I’m getting married in August and a few months ago gave up on AT that they would ever put it on sale, so I moved on. My BM’s ended up with the Averie (shown above) in a sky blue with the pacific blue underlay and sash. Quite lovely, but now the Christine is on sale, and I feel like I need to give it a try: DOES ANYONE NEED 4 BLUE AVERIE’S? I’d be willing to sell them (all unworn) with sashes so we could get the Christine. It’s really a lovely dress, just my 2nd choice. We paid $79 plue $8 for the sash, so we’d sell them for the same price. We have a size 6, 2 8’s, and a size 12. Please email me if you’re interested–they really are lovely:) Thanks for reading, Michele

@Michele:

I am trying to locate a pacific blue sash. I purchased the cornflower blue averie dress and believe that is the underlay color that I need. If you could let me know if the sash is the correct color and if still available. If I would be able to purchase just the sash that would be great, or if I could pay for shipping here and back and just borrow it so you could still sell it as a set that would be great. It is for a July wedding

Caroline,

I do still have them and would be willing to sell them to you. Again, I have a 6, 2 size 8’s, and a 12. I’ve talked with all of my BM’s this morning (except 1) to ensure that none have been altered. I’m waiting to hear back on the 6, but I’m almost positive that it has not been altered. Call me on my cell if you’re serious, and we’ll figure out the details: 612.578.9082.

Hope this works!
Michele

@kathleen: Were you able to find that 16 or 18 dress in espresso? If your maid would be interested in parting ways with the dress, my bridesmaid is in the market… jplassmeyer*at*gmail*dot*com
