When I’m not obsessing about our wedding I play the cello in my band (which Mr. Radish is in too), read as much as I can, sleep even more, travel whenever possible, and try to find time to have fun with my friends. My Poor, Neglected Cello

November 20th, 2007 @ 3:45 pm by Mrs. Radish

Back in the good old days before I became wedding-centric, I used to play my cello almost every day. It was always there for me and ready to work whenever I needed it to. Sure, there have been some broken strings and wolf notes along the way, but overall it was a dependable old friend. Sadly, we started to grow apart as I found myself more and more immersed in the crazy world of wedding planning.

…and look what became of my cello! A fine hand-carved German instrument suffered the indignity of becoming the place where I pile my clothes. I didn’t even take my cello out of the case for almost four full months! Poor thing.

Now that the wedding is over and I’m re-adjusted to non-wedding planning life, I have started trying to make up with my old friend. We even played a show together recently. But somehow I still find myself too busy to give it the attention it deserves and I’ve only been playing it when I have band practice.

Here are some pictures of us during happier times.

I stopped playing an addictive online game, and I’m not going back!

Reading! I love to read, but since I got engaged, all I ever read are wedding magazines. I’m flying to LA for Thanksgiving and I’m not packing a single wedding magazine for the flight. I want to read an actual book for a change!

I’ve been a pianist since age 5 and played nonstop. I even splurged and bought myself a full sized keyboard to keep in our apartment. With our wedding planning, and now starting up a business, I haven’t touched it in months. It’s collecting dust and now holds piles of mail and random papers I never get around to throwing out. Poor piano.

About a month before the wedding I stopped getting up at 5am to head to the gym. Between wedding tasks and real work I had to get done before the honeymoon that time seemed too precious.

I love the gym. Yes it’s an added bonus to be healthy and look fit, but that’s not why I go - I love to lift weights and spin :) I love keeping myself in shape to play soccer and ultimate. Especially in the morning which is my favorite time of the day.

It’s been over 6 months since the wedding - and I just can’t seem to get out of the bed. (I don’t workout in the afternoons - it’s the morning or nothing) I really miss it and need to figure out how to get myself back on schedule! It always makes for a better day when I start out with exercise!

My violin. Sadly, I’ve had a tougher time picking it back up than I’d thought…and that was two years ago!

Reading real books, like Miss Jasmine. Playing games on my computer (I am a Sims addict, I admit), and making jewelry. I was learning to cast metal before the wedding planning, now I am lucky if I find time to string beads.

I confess. I haven’t read a REAL book since this whole planning thing started. I simply do not have the time, not the interest at the moment. I sooooo long for the day when I can relax with a glass of wine, a jacuzzi full of bubbles and great new book.

For now, it’s either chick lit or a wedding magazine.

Does grad school count? I’m probably failing this semester because I’m spending too much time browsing the beehive and other wedding related stuff!

I used to run for several hours after work or on weekends. Ever since wedding planning, I stopped running because I didn’t have time and I had so much to do. I’m trying my best to go back to running but it’s just too cold now, heh!

I play the violin - i was so excited to see your post! Between medical school and wedding planning I just cannot find the time to play. I love practicing - which is funny becuase I used to hate it so much. But now i find it really relaxing - Anyway, i need to find the time to get back to it.

I’m a trained classical singer, and I haven’t touched a piece of music in forever. Part of that is because of my job but a lot of it is because of wedding planning.
If it wasn’t for our favors being recorded CDs of us (FH is a pianist), I wouldn’t have sung at all lately!
