Puke-y Holiday Cards

November 20th, 2007 @ 11:46 am by Mrs. Lily

I really want to have holiday cards mades with pictures of our wedding. I brought this up to Mr. Lily and he said that idea is puke-y, overly romantic, but he would let me do it. The question now is, where is the best place to get this done? As I mentioned in my last post, Sony Imagestation closed down. They were my go-to place for prints and cards. My experience with Shutterfly has only been mediocre. Ditto Snapfish. Has anyone made cards elsewhere that turned out nice? Also, are you guys making cheesy cards like me… and does it make your boyfriends/FIs/husbands want to gag?????

Hey there. I’ve had great luck with iPhoto. My only complaint with them is that they don’t have a function for ordering a variety of photo cards in one set. However, the quality of the cards they make is outstanding. My sister has had great luck with Kodak’s photo site. Good luck! So far i have not gagged my fiance with card ideas. We did a photo postcard for our save-the-dates, and he managed to keep his breakfast down :)

Try Walgreens.com Cheap prices and their photo store is great. You can upload on-line and pick up in store too. Check it out.

I used Mpix, designed my own card and had it printed on photo paper. I then ordered my own envelopes and stamps! The Mr was ehhh on it, but is letting me do whatever I want. I got the metallic paper which is awesome!

I also reccomend Zazzle and Moo for cards.

i’ve seen a card from vista print and it was so cute. i’m not sending out holiday cards of us, unless they are close friends, those cards usually end up in the trash.

I’m taking the leftover folios from the invites, and sticking a regular 4×6 print on the front. It’s like recycling.

how about amazingmail.com? it’s awesome…upload your address list and a photo or two. you can even send yourself a test postcard for free when you sign up with the site! we sent postcards last year after our wedding and people still have them on their refrigerators when we visit…good luck :-)

I too was a Sony Imagestation girl, when they shut down, I tried my luck with Kodak Gallery. (www.kodakgallery.com) I actually really like their organization of your pictures, the free features and the quality is very high too. They have pretty cute designs for cards…I like it. It’s reasonably priced too.

Moo Cards. http://www.moo.com. We made our STD here and they have square cards with a photo on the front, a note on the back, and a flap so they stand up. I am overjoyed to find such a simple design and square shape, and the quality is really nice. They are based here in the UK but ship to the states for no extra cost.

I used http://www.invitationconsultants.com, and picked item Item # STAV5515. I used a picture of my husband and I jumping in an alley full of graffiti, in our wedding garb. The prints were great, the shimmer cardstock was sooooo nice, and they were right on time. No complaints. We’re also using custom stamps from zazzle, with a drawing of our puppy because she won’t sit still for a picture. The whole card is just unique enough that my husband doesn’t think it’s cheesy!

I used Snapfish but their customer service kinda sucks so I don’t really recommend them!

I just used Shutterfly to create them and then sent them to my local target for printing/pick-up. It was actually cheaper per pic than ordering through Shutterfly (even w/o the shipping included!). ($0.44/per 4×8 photo card)
The photocards turned out great and the resolution and color was fantastic.
Plus, it only took 1 hour for Target to print them. Can’t beat that.

I used http://www.ringobaby.com for my cards last year and I’m using them again - they have tons of stylish designs and you can even have matchig address labels made. I used their “pearl” paper and it was nice and thick. I did an engagement photo last year, this year I’m doing a wedding photo (my guys rolls his eyes but I think he secrectly likes it!)

They are fast too.
