Lemon Day Part XIII - Party Time, Excellent!

November 21st, 2007 @ 2:26 pm by Mrs. Lemon

We were whisked away from the chapel in my Dad’s most excellent and award winning hot rod (complete with matching purple car magnets that my mom magically found) to the reception which was a short 5-minute drive away.

We got a chance to meet our coordinator in the lobby to switch my veil, and then we went to our hotel suite to enjoy some champagne and appetizers on our own. We only got about ten minutes of downtime before we made it to the penthouse, but it was nice to gobble down the food and have some real alone time. Our guests had enjoyed a full hour of open bar and passed goodies, so we knew we weren’t delaying anything too much…

z11921001
Look at how wonderfully twirly my dress is!

z11921002

z11921003

My Dad made the opening speech to welcome and thank everyone for coming to the event… it was super sweet.

z11921004

Yet another “weird” thing that we did at our wedding… we sat at a normal table! Yup… we didn’t have a raised head table nor a sweetheart table… just a normal 10-person table where we sat with half of our bridal party and their dates. We sort of treated the reception like one of those fancy award honor dinners you go to where the guest of honor sits at the front & center of the room… and we loved it. We got to talk to our friends, walk around the room with ease, and still be where everyone could see us!

z11921101
This was my favorite memory of the night….

z11921102
Now we got to talk to about half of the tables before the speeches began… but let me tell you … I ATE ALL OF MY FOOD! Well, minus the salad (eiw… salad and green stuff!), I devoured the amazing appetizer and the delicious filet mignon! I had no doubt that Mr. Lemon would get to eat all of his food since he’s the world’s fastest eater, but I made it a point to savour every last bit of my food to get me through the night. So yes… it can be done ladies!

Mr. Lemon’s Dad, who luckily has lots and lots of public speaking experience, gave a short and wonderful speech (that Mr. Lemon didn’t tell him about it until that day) immediately following dinner.

z11921006
Adam, the best man, then got up to give his speech….

z11921007
(something made us giggly)

Then my MOH Audrey followed up with her speech about our mutual appreciation for hot smart athletic guys.

And you know what happens after speeches are over… the dance dance party begins…

Agreed - you look absolutely beautiful as does everything at the reception!

2 things we also did:

1. We sat at a regular old round table for 8 with our friends. Our table was in the center of all of the reception tables so we were as close to as many other tables as possible.

2. I ate some of every course at dinner - including cake! I didn’t eat every bite - funny thing: I cut into my steak and somehow 1/2 of it fell on my lap and then landed on the floor. Fortunately my napkin in my lap saved my dress from a big ol mess!

:) ya’ll make me gush!
Jen — the dress is by Monique Lhuillier… and if I could dye it and wear it for every fancy party I would!

Hi! Congratulations on the big day. I have a bunch of questions for you about the Marriott for when you have time. Did you end up hiring a coordinator besides Cynthia? I hope you’re doing well!

Hi Mrs. Lemon -
Those are some amazing photos! What a lovely ceremony site! We’re seriously considering Monterey for our wedding and I’d love a rundown of which vendors you used and your opinion of their work! Thanks very much…
Dana.
