About Mrs. Cherry Blossom

I really wanted to accent the boring silver tea lights by giving it some sparkle and color. So I thought glitter would do the trick.

Imagine a dark chocolate brown cloth with pink napkins, and these cube votive surrounding a centerpiece.

in between these cube votives will be these:

Now to accent the boring silver tealights, I thought a bit of pink glitter would jazz it up and give them more pizzazz.

* these by the way are the Cudge.net candles that I ordered 288 of.*

Exhibit A: Spray Adhesive
z11922301
Not so bad. I was so scared of the flammable substance that I was a bit afraid of lighting them, worrying that they might just spontaneously combust. LOL! The other thing is, I didn’t spray the bottle as far the directions told me to, so it got clumpy and it didn’t give me quite as even a look as I was hoping. The backside is horrendous.

Exhibit B: Double sided Tape
z11922302
To the left: 1/2″ inch permanent double sided tape
To the right: 3/4″ inch removable double sided tape

As you can see the 1/2″ didn’t quite cover the Glimma Candles that I always have at home, but the 3/4 inch worked perfectly.

It does however fit the ones that Mr. CB used for his proposal, so I plan to use the shorter ones for the cocktail hour.

Next I tested the durability of the tape and heat:

I kept them lit until the very end and it worked out awesome! Removable or permanent, they work just as well.

The best part, after it’s burnt til its last drop of wax, I could remove the metal wick, and reuse the holder by replacing them with new candles from the leftover unGLITTERed votives.

a HOW - TO will soon follow.

What do you think? Glitter is tacky? or you like the UMPH? Or hard to picture the overall picture?

Good job, Miss CB! I like it.

Okay, standby for my opinion, which is big news, because I tend to be anti-glitter:

I dig it. It’s subtle. It’s just a little extra, not too much.

I <3 em! I think it’s the perfect amount of color and with pink it really doesn’t scream “GLITTER” like other colors would! :)

Miss Bubblegum says:

Definitely not tacky! It’s UMPH-tastic!

I’m normally not a glitter type of person (always passed it up in crafts class), but I think the soft candlelight reflecting off of it will make it work perfectly. So it’s a go for glitter for me!

Thanks ladies!

The funny thing is, I’m not normally the glitter type of person either. But it worked out great for these. It’s a little glam and a little color to help accent the table more. =) I can’t wait to see it all put together!

mama likes! Definitely a step up from the regular silver tealights! Keep the glitter!

WeddingSavvy says:

It is *not* tacky, very pretty.
One variation you might like to try:
instead of (or in addition to) glitter around the base of the candle, try to glitter the rim, you might catch a bit more sparkle that way!
LOVE the glass etching! One of my favorite DIY activities! Brava!
Happy Planning!

Mrs. Emerald says:

Wow, you are super duper creative! Here’s my thought… in a semi-dark room, will you actually be able to see the glitter?

12.
Nancy says:

It’s beautiful! Not tacky at all. You are definately upping the “umph” factor lol.

Miss Cherry Blossom says:

Mrs. Emerald - Aw you are so sweet. Smoochies for that.

Hmmm … good question. I’m not actually quite sure how dark the room might be, something I’ve thought about it, so it might not *sparkle* as much as I’d like, but still better than staring at the silver. keke. Figure it should still stand out against the dark chocolate table cloths? I’ll try to test it out, and if I do, of course documentations would follow suit.

Mrs. Eggplant says:

I vote “yes” on the glitter! Sparkley = pretty!

Sara says:

That is so neat! I love the touch of color. The only concern I have is that since the larger, square candles have color and designs on them also, the extra pink might be too busy. Could you show us a picture of them next to each other?

The trick with the double sided tape is genious!

mrspikake says:

Just the right amount of “UMPH” I say. I also have to agree with Mrs. Eggplant. Sparkley = pretty!

Brandi says:

I like the glitter but i thought the same thing with my tealights…just so boring. What i did, is wrapped every single tealight with brown and pink ribbon and used the coveted double stick tape as well. I got spools of it at Wal-Mart for like $1.88 and the width is perfect for tealights. Just a suggestion.

I’m late to this, but I *love* them– the glitter adds just the right amount of sparkle and specialness without being tacky. I am constantly impressed by your creativity!!!

Lana says:

I know this is super late, but I’m so proud of you deary! I do love the glitter, make sure you puts lots on my table hehehe!! I’ll be singing “sprinkle me…” as I watch the candle flicker. *muah*
