The Bride’s Cafe

November 27th, 2007 @ 4:47 pm by Mrs. Bee

Though it’s been less than a month since The Bride’s Cafe first launched, it’s already one of my must read wedding blogs!

The Bride's Cafe : wedding blogs Bridescafe Logo

The talented woman behind it all is Richmond, VA based floral designer Janie Medley.  In addition to a fabulous blog, Janie also has a gorgeous portfolio so don’t forget to check that out too!  (PS - Miss Flamingo did her blog/logo design The Bride's Cafe : wedding blogs Icon Wink)

Today Janie featured a stunning wedding photographed by the talented Jennifer Skog.  I absolutely adore all the florals for this event!  See more pics of the wedding day and the day after on Jennifer’s blog.

If you go to her blog, there’s a great picture of the bride and groom making a “last-minute” adjustment to their outfits. Very creative…great job Jennifer!

Janie… is like my floral mother. Too bad she is in Virginia and me in Canada… we talk almost everynight… and she is such a sweetheart.

I am so happy someone posted about her…. she is extremely talented and if I could, I would hire her hands down!

I am having the most upsetting experience with my Verragio wedding band and engagement ring, and need your help to ensure that no other couples go though the same pain. I am sure that I cannot be the only person to have such trouble with this designer.
My college sweetheart proposed to me on October 23, 2009 with a Verragio engagement ring setting. Three weeks later one of the diamonds fell out. We had to send the ring back to Verragio for repairs. Within hours of putting the ring back on my finger another diamond fell out! I was beyond mortified and upset that I would have to be without my ring again. The next day (early December 2009) I went on the Verragio website and posted a comment. Verragio did respond to my experience, making a point to say that Verragio prided themselves on their craftsmanship and attention to detail and do not take a situation like mine lightly. Verragio allowed me to wear my defective ring while a new one was created. This allowed me to wear my ring over the holidays and not be without an engagement ring again. This was a very nice gesture; however I was not very excited to show off a ring with missing stones. As a result of our experience, we were offered a 15% discount on the matching wedding band. My fiancé and I spent many months discussing if we should purchase the matching wedding band. I wish we had trusted our hesitation and not have purchased it. We were told that the wedding band was inspected to ensure that we would not go through such an upsetting situation again. To quote Verragio that this is an “important moment in one’s life, your ring should be absolutely perfect.” Unfortunately my Verragio wedding band is not perfect.
After the entire experience with two stones falling out of my Verragio engagement ring, I exercise extreme care while wearing them for fear of losing another stone. I only wear my Verragio rings when I am at work (a desk job). The moment I get home, or do anything beyond sitting, the rings are in their storage box. This is very distressing to my husband as he spent a lot of time picking out a perfect ring and does not get to see me enjoying it. On August 21, 2010 we celebrated our wedding day. You can only imagine the feelings we are having when on October 21, 2010, our two month anniversary; I notice a missing stone on my Verragio wedding band. I spent the entire afternoon on the phone trying to talk to anyone at Verragio. The next morning I called the Vice President of Verragio, to make someone aware of my situation. My conversation only fueled my frustration and anger. All I wanted was for someone to hear me out and understand how I am feeling. Verragio could not comment until they inspected the ring.
My Verragio wedding band arrived for repair at Verragio on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. The next day, we found out it will take two weeks for the repair. I asked if there was any way to rush my ring, especially since this is not my first issue with Verragio. I asked to have a written statement from Verragio that if I have one more problem with either of my Verragio rings, that Verragio will refund the full retail price of my rings. Verragio balked at the idea, stating that this is what my lifetime warranty covers. That only makes the situation more upsetting; that my “worry” should be put to rest by a warranty. It does not matter how good a warranty is when I am consistently without a ring due to poor craftsmanship. All of our friends think that we purchased a cheap ring. It is humiliating to explain for the third time what happened to my ring.
I am asking you to please share my painful story. No other couple should have to endure the pain and humiliation that we have. This is a time in one’s life that is truly special. Our engagement memories and wedding have been tainted. There is no excuse for what we have been through.
Sincerely,
Stacy

@Stacy: @Stacy:

Hello!
I’m so glad that you shared your story. My fiance also proposed with a customized Verragio ring and we’ve been struggling since! There were obvious asymmetries which were attributed to the fact that it was hand made. Definitely not acceptable from a “high end” jeweller! I think their lack of apologies and poor quality assurance makes us even more upset. And it’s marred what was intended to be a very sweet thoughtful ring from my fiance. They finally offered to replace the ring, but your story has now convinced me to request a full refund, although knowing they may not be willing! If we come up with a brilliant way to spread the sham that is Verragio, will surely let you know. For now, many hugs!
