The Power Of Weddingbee

November 27th, 2007 @ 3:18 pm by Mrs. Lovebird

I know I’ve mentioned many times that I was inspired to have a destination wedding by Mrs. Ant.

I know it’s easy for someone to say they were inspired by someone else. But, I was inspired to the extent that Mr. Lovebird, Mommy Lovebird, Daddy Lovebird and I “flew” all the way to Negril, Jamaica to check out The Rockhouse Hotel as a possible wedding venue this past March. From the moment we stepped onto the property, I knew why Mrs. Ant chose this special place. Mr. Lovebird and I were placed in Villa #2 and my parents got Villa #10. Villa #2 offered more privacy but Villa #10 offered convenience. The beautiful bridge was right outside my parent’s villa.

Daddy Lovebird made the mistake of jumping off the 30 foot bridge head first and his belly flop was heard throughout the property. Mr. Lovebird learned from Daddy Lovebird’s mistake and went feet first, which is the proper way to do it.

We ate all but one of our meals at the Rockhouse. The coconut chicken was to die for! We ventured next door to the Pirates Cave for lunch one day and I had the yummy Caribbean lobster.

The Rockhouse is also home to most beautiful sunsets. Mommy Lovebird actually shuddered while taking this photograph.

Us Lovebirds had a wonderful trip and wished we stayed longer. In the end, we decided against having our wedding at the Rockhouse (because we realized we loved Cancun more), but would still recommend it to others as a wonderful place to hold a wedding or even as a honeymoon destination.

OH MY GOSH your pictures make me want to cry–we were there on our honeymoon in September. :-) I saw The Rockhouse on the Today Show and then Miss Ant’s wedding and knew it was the perfect hotel for us…no couples or sandals or beaches–we wanted privacy (only 34 rooms) and a special experience (the villas!).

We stayed in a few different places there, including Room 10 for a week. We spent a couple nights in room 17 (also great) and one of the more traditional hotel-style rooms, 26, for one night. We choose to move around and loved every single experience!

I have the same exact picture of my husband jumping off the bridge! Ha ha! I blogged extensively about the honeymoon if you click on my name. :-) Your pictures totally make me wish I was there or at least going back soon! *sigh*

We always stay at the Tensing Pen up the road, but snorkel at The Rock House. We were actually married at the Tensing Pen a few years ago, but didn’t tell anyone we had romantically eloped.
