Day Of Beauty

November 28th, 2007 @ 11:14 am by Mrs. Emerald

Right after college, I worked a brief stint as a salon manager for a well-known Chicagoland salon & day spa chain. It was a miserable 6 months, but I befriended a stylist named Jodi, who did absolute wonders for special occasion hair. Fast forward 4 years to my engagement, and I went straight back to the salon in hopes of finding her still working there. Lucky me! She agreed to take a vacation day on the Saturday of my wedding, and did my hair, as well as the hair for my 5 bridesmaids and 1 reader. Unfortunately, I can’t share her information since she *technically* isn’t supposed to freelance outside the salon and she did that for me as a favor. Sorry, I knew there was some interest. whateva031

BUT, I will certainly share my makeup artist! Initially, I was 100% positive that I was going to do my own makeup. After all, I am a total product junkie and I wear makeup every single day. Not to mention, I loved having an excuse to buy more makeup! But one day in June, I stopped by the Bobbi Brown counter at Macy’s to pick up some gel eyeliner. Tasha, the makeup artist on duty sat me down for makeover (it was a slow Thursday night), and I was sold! It was me… just prettier!

I love how all my girls looked fresh-faced and gorgeous! My makeup stayed put through no less than SIX rounds of tears!! I requested a “natural” look with neutral eye-shadows in brown and champagne, and I provided my own Vincent Longo lip stain. I also loved having false eyelashes! Tasha did an amazing job, and I did not regret the (non-budgeted) cost for one minute. Admitedly, she got lost on the morning of my wedding, but my hotel was tucked away in an area with no signs…

Cost:

$125 for the bride (no additional charge for a trial)

$50 for each bridesmaid

No additional travel fee in Chicagoland (but this may not be the case if you are only requesting makeup for yourself)

Contact Info:

Email me at emerald@weddingbee.com for her phone number.

Please let her know that you were referred by Charlene, otherwise you may be quoted higher 2008 prices. Also note, Tasha no longer works for Macy’s, as she recently resigned to go back to school! This is a freelance job for her, so she does not have her own company or studio.
