Our invitations will not go out for another 3-4 months, so WHY, oh WHY, am I making them now??!?! And why are there so many steps?!?
Well, I’m making them now because I have about a month left before I need to start up my hardcore-actuarial-exam-studying, so I am trying to get as much done wedding-wise as possible. AND there are so many steps because a) I am just one girl and b) I don’t yet have all the information needed for my invitation inserts.
But what I have been able to do so far is:
Step 1: DIY pocketfolds.
Step 2: The main invitation.. and here’s how it turned out!!
My main invitation was made up of three layers (in addition to the pocketfold). Hey, I dress in layers, why not invite in layers???
Layer 1: Information Sheet

Like Miss Peony, we went the inkjet printer route (and took the Canon PIXMA iP1600 expressway). And honestly, it initially presented me with a bit of a problem. I originally ordered Stardream Quartz paper from Paper-Source.. which is BEAUTIFUL, really, but just does not work with an inkjet and red ink. I tried and I tried, but no matter what setting I used, the red would just turn pink as the ink dried. It. Was. Frustrating. Actually, the green ink looked amazing on it (it got all sparkly-looking), but if you’re really looking for a vibrant red, I cannot stress it enough: leave the stardream alone!!!!! Anyway, I finally got over it and ordered Luxe White paper instead. I heart it!!! I ordered the 27″x19″ sheets and cut them into 6″x4″ pieces.
Layer 2: Decorative Paper

I LOVVVVVVVVVVE this paper. If only you could feeeeel it through the internet… because what you cannot tell from this picture is that the green parts are actually kinda fabricy-fuzzy. Haha, that sounds kinda gross… but really, it’s a good thing, I swear! I got this “Vivant Mirage” paper from Paper Mojo, which is a great site. As wonderful as Paper-Source is, Paper Mojo has some really beautiful paper, and it even arrived faster than Paper-Source!! The paper came 27″x39″, and I cut it into 6″x6″ pieces. The only flaw with this paper is that it’s really thin, hence…
Layer 3: Opaque-ness-giver
Ahh, yes, you’re onto me. It’s just white paper, cut down to 6″x6″.
Pocketfold Layer

Okay, I know I said this wasn’t a layer, but I just had to include this picture anyway, since Baby Bubblegum is in it. Seriously, this kitten LOVES PAPER.
I put this all together using just regular double-stick tape. I tested many methods, and this just seemed to work best. And now, without further ado…

On the next invitation episode.. inserts!
Our kitty furbaby loves paper too. Maybe it’s a cat thing!
Beautiful invites!
