About Mrs. Peppermint

My New Best Friend (Or Worst Enemy?)

November 29th, 2007 @ 12:13 pm by Mrs. Peppermint

Where does the time go? I can’t believe the wedding is right around the corner! As the date approaches, I have a new friend. I check up on him first thing in the morning, and tuck him in before going to sleep. I think about him constantly.

My new friend, you may know him too, is weather.com. Okay, so I can’t technically “tuck him in,” but I am obsessively checking in on him. Every day. Multiple times. Perhaps by the hour.

I’m one day away from having a 10 day forecast. Despite my lack of understanding about weather, for the last few days I’ve been trying to make predictions based on the trends. For example, “Oh, day 9 and 10 are getting warmer, therefore the next day (i.e. my wedding day which is not yet on the forecast) will be even warmer!”. Hmm… I’m not sure this is true, but my fingers are crossed!

I mean, I’m a California native, so weather in the 70’s is chilly. Nonetheless, the forecast generally seems to be around the mid 70’s (with lows in the 50’s). My real concern is about rain. Not only do I want the weather to be temperate, but I also want to know that there won’t be rain (or wind!). Am I asking too much?

As many of you may remember, my wedding is outdoors (ceremony & reception). Yes, I planned an outdoor December wedding. The wedding will go into the night (10pm) and there will be outdoor heaters. I know it will work out, but I can’t help but obsessively check the forecast…

In honor of our honeymoon to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico (and home to many Mayan ruins) and in hope that our wedding day forecast will be perfect (and dry!), I have included the head of the rain god:

**fingers crossed, everyone!!**

You will love the Yucatan. Check out Merida, Ek Balam, and some cenotes.

Since the wind chill here in Chicago was 4 degrees this morning, I am mostly in awe of an outdoor December wedding… and of the idea that 70 is chilly. I’m sure the weather will be beautiful on your big day - good luck!

We hit the dollar store for umbrellas the Monday before our outdoor wedding, when the 80% chance of rain was announced.

There wasn’t a drop. It was absolutely gorgeous.

I wish the same for you!

Hi! This sounds exactly like me! My wedding is in Australia in about a month and the forecast is a 28 day look ahead, which means tomorrow, I can see the forecast! I’m so nervous, should I even trust something 28 days out?
