About Me: I’m a Gemini to the extreme. On one side, I’m a girly girl. I read countless bridal and fashion magazines, and have an obsession with keeping up with the latest Hollywood gossip. On the other side, I’m a sports fanatic. Despite being a full-time bride-to be, full-time research assistant, and part-time student, I’m also a full-time Red Sox fan from spring training to October, and a full-time Patriots fan from mini-camp to February. I devote almost as much time researching my for fantasy football team as researching for our wedding!

Back in June, my team (who I am so grateful for) got up at 3:30 in the morning to trek down to Filene’s Basement for the last Boston Running of the Brides for a couple of years. We got there around 3:50am, and were the 5th group in line! Even with so little sleep, we managed to be excited and enthusiastic, as evidenced by this picture:

I had a brief little interview with the Boston Globe staff about our t-shirts. I guess they were a hit! More importantly, my team seemed to really like them! Huzzah!
Before pics, I’d like to say thanks to my team - they rocked! I think we might have had the BIGGEST pile of dresses there!

Aww I love it Miss Toucan! It’s so great that your dress-finding experience was such a memorable experience… looks like so much crazy fun!
I got my dress there too. The secret is that they sell very few dresses in the morning, so you can go at 3:00 PM and they still have 99% of the dresses. And at that time, the store is quiet and the sales girls have already seen all the dresses on, so they can help point you to those that might look better on than they do on the hanger.
It’s beautiful! And what awesome memories to have!
Great pictures! They look like a lot of fun…you’re so lucky to have friends that would wake up at 3 and do all this for you

Miss Toucan, your dress is beautiful!! I *especially* love the beading on the bodice- I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it. You’re lucky to have such good friends to go with you so early in the morning… and, in agreement with Jennifer… I can’t believe you got guys to go with you! Congrats on finding such a great dress (and at such a great price, too!!)!
So pretty. You have a great group of friends willing to start dress hunting at 3 AM! What an adventure. I think you found the best one. Tell me, do they have this event in other cities or just Boston? And every year in June? Or just every so often? I am wondering who I can gather up for an early morning shopping trek.

perfectbound, nope it’s at various locations around the country. Boston is where the original Filene’s Basement is, so we have it 2 times a year (once in Feb and once in August). The August sale was in June this year because the store is closing for renovations. I just found out they’ll still have 2 a year in Boston-just in their other Boston location.
You can find the locations of the next sales (Feb. 08) on the Filene’s basement website (http://filenesbasement.com/). If you don’t see a location near you, keep checking from time to time, they will update with new locations/times for the event.
Yay for the Running of the Brides!! I got my dress there in June too, except I didn’t venture out there until about 10:30, after the madness died down. They had a TON of dresses there and as long as you’re patient and willing to wade through aisles and aisles of silk, satin, and tulle, it definitely pays off!
This is a GORGEOUS dress, I love the detailing on the waist and the back, so pretty, what every girl deserves!
I really , really , REALLY want to partake in the Running of The Brides!!! But I’m worried about sizes… I know inventory changes yearly but does anyone know what size range they have ? Silly question , but I’d appreciate the help!!!
