About Mrs. Magnolia

Ta Da!

November 30th, 2007 @ 4:48 pm by Mrs. Magnolia

Here they are! The Magnolia Invitations!

They went out in the mail the Monday before Thanksgiving, and we actually had two responses when we got home on Friday, which was so very exciting! The response cards have continued to roll in since then, and checking the mail has become Mr. Magnolia’s favorite part of the day. It’s very cute, really — he calls me every afternoon with an RSVP update!

Our invitations were created by the lovely Lisa Hladish of Paper Daisies. Lisa is a former art teacher who got into the invitation design business after she wasn’t particularly happy with anything that she found for her own wedding. At our first meeting, I showed her pictures of inviations that I liked, and I told her all about my obsession with all things paisley, and she ultimately presented me with two different options - a modified pocketfold, and a 4×9. I loved both equally, so we left the final decision up to the Mr., who selected the 4×9.

The text is printed in chocolate brown ink on watercolor paper and matted on navy linen paper. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out!

Here is the front of our response postcard:

And the back (sorry it’s so blurry!):

We also included a directions/accommodations insert:

Which flips open to reveal our hotel information and directions to all wedding-related events:

As I mentioned in a previous post, we had have the hiccup of a typo (which was on the proof that I approved), but I thought that Lisa handled it in the best way possible, rushing my reprint and only charging me for the cost of ink and paper.

We’ve gotten glowing reviews on the invitations, and I would highly recommend Lisa to any bride-to-be in the Atlanta area! She also does thank you notes, programs, menu cards, etc…but I’m kind of looking forward to tackling some of those projects on my own.

Wait, I only have six weeks left….

Ahhh I love them! What type of printing did she use?

I’m pretty sure it was plain old inkjet, actually! But because they were printed on watercolor paper, the printing had the appearance of texture…almost like faux letterpress!

Ohhh my invitations went out the same day and the trips to the mailbox are so exciting! Not even the pile of bills on top of my little RSVPs can dampen the excitement!

Beautiful invitations!

Now I’m smacking myself in the head for not thinking of trying watercolor paper in my printer! You must be so happy to have found such a wonderful designer and beautiful invitations. :-)
