Tickled Pink… And Green

December 3rd, 2007 @ 5:32 pm by Mrs. Donut

Once we had our where and when, it was time to get down to the aesthetics and where better to begin than color? We want to be able to tie our first and second wedding days together as much as possible. Now, I cannot tell a lie. I love pink. The Boy jokes that it doesn’t matter what it is, if it’s pink, I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame. And it’s true. I am not afraid to embrace the pink, so of course I love the fact that cherry blossom pink is a color that links the two events perfectly. I’m not, however, a Shelby “my colors are blush and bashful” bride. My philosophy is too much of a good thing is simply too much. So we chose celadon green as our main color, with pale pink and white as accent colors.

Here is my inspiration picture.

I love our color palate. I don’t care how many times I see this color combo, I always think it’s wonderfully fresh and romantic and perfect.

How did you choose your wedding colors?

I love the color pink too! It’ll be one of my wedding colors. I’m really inspired by the movie Marie Antoinette directed by Sophia Coppola. My wedding colors are pink gold and cream. I’m still iffy about the cream…

I flip-flopped around wedding colors for so long before finally settling on our blue/green scheme. His favorite color is green and mine is blue so a light blue/mossy green with dark red flowers just hit the spot!

I love that color combination! I toyed with it for awhile, but couldn’t decide on the perfect sage green that would keep the combination from looking a little too “old fashioned country club.” The photo you have is perfect!

After eliminating all the colors that are considered bad luck by Chinese people, and then eliminating super summery color combinations, I didn’t have many choices left. I actually finalized color decisions after finding my bridesmaids a beautiful raspberry red dress on sale. so the colors are that bright pink/red, complemented by eggplant purple and pale gold. I’m not using the colors a whole lot though, just having accents here and there because they’re such bold shades.

I must’ve thought up and seriously considered about 8 different color combos… in the end we went with our original color - green. I looked back and realized that all my favorite weddings in magazines, blogs and websites had green in them. I think it’s natural-looking, classic and timeless.

I found gray bridesmaids dresses the day after we got engaged and I was sold. So now we have black, ivory and gray and I couldnt be more excited about it!

Both of our favorite colors are green but I wanted a green that was fresh, new and vibrant. So I chose Apple Green and Navy Blue which fits perfectly with our August lake front water affair.

The inspiration for our color scheme was this beautiful tartan pattern from Dublin, Ireland. Since the fabric is really expensive we were only able to get a few yards of it, so we pulled out the dominate colors (chocolate brown and hunter green) and then paired it with crisp white. It’s coming out really nicely and I’m really excited. The warm colors paired with the cool crisp white is a nice contrast.

I am the one who can not pick a favorite color. Pink, Green, Blue, Orange, Red - I love them all. Most people prob think my fav color is pink - but I’d say blue. Of course I’m a Hokie - so anything orange attracts me! Green is another one I just love every shade. I’m an artist at heart. So I was absolutely clueless when it came to my wedding colors!

I went to meet with the florist to book them (remember here I only have like one choice of everything - so there was no shopping around - I just had to book them for my weekend) and flipped through some of their books. In the back of one of the books they had every flower listed and pictured grouped by color. I started there and narrowed down the flowers I liked. I was really drawn to the bright purple orchids. That was it. Purple was my color. Accented with a cream color. So I had purple orchids - purple and white cala lilies - white asters etc in the bouquet.

I had taken a color sample packet from Envelopments to the florist with me - I knew that was the style invitation I loved and I earmarked a couple colors. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my main color which was Metallic Rhodolite accented with Matte Green Tea and Metallic Ecru Micah (printed in brown).

I kinda surprised myself with my choice - but I loved it!

I decided on those exact colors since I agree — it’s romantic and charming and pleasant and perfect. However, four months before the wedding I decided I wanted fuschia and lime! Fuschia and lime I got, and I don’t regret it all. I still love seeing the sage/pink combo, though, since it’s so near & dear :)

must one even have ‘colors’? I’ve spent years throwing fantastic dinner parties without so much as a thought as to color palettes..why does this seem to come up for weddings? not snarky, just curous….

Not so much colors, but scheme. It helps tie everything together. Weddings are so much different than dinner parties–you want the day to reflect the two of you and color is such a personal expression. So it was brown (for him, his favorite) and pink (mine). We had accent colors of gold and cream and touches of moss green, mostly for flowers.

I changed my colors every other day for 4 months. I definitely considered pink and green…it’s so beautiful.

More than anything, I wanted a black and ivor wedding. I think it’s so classy and elegant. But my family wasn’t going for it. Finally, I settled on black, red, and ivory. The bridesmaids will wear black and carry red flowers. I am absolutely loving my color scheme!

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding that almost had those colors.. we ordered the dresses, and then the groom decided that all the BMs had ganged up on the bride to force her to choose those “ghastly” colors. Which is a pain, because I always wanted a dress that color green.

I took a lot of guff for the colors I chose: grey, burnt orange and white for my summer wedding. I originally was thinking more of a green, espresso and peach color scheme, but that didn’t last long. My BMs’ dresses are a soft matte grey, with their bouquets burnt orange with a bit of white and yellow (my inspiration was fire). I seriously love my colors, even though some people still have problems with them. I don’t necessarily care though - it’s my wedding. :)

I *love* your color combination– that picture is gorgeous and how cute is that flower girl? :)

I’ve gone through so many different color combinations, but I’ve finally settled on shades of deep burgundy, magenta, rose gold, and antique gold.

We went through a number of color changes. At first, it was going to be red, black, and silver because we wanted an October wedding. When we moved the date to late June, I wanted red, bronze, and black, but my mom said the colors were too fall. Then I saw a picture of purple wedding flowers and said that I wanted purple and lime green. Out last color change was when we were in a fabric store looking for material for my dress. We saw this beautiful color of teal and we decided that we would change the lime green to teal, so now the finalized colors are purple, dark teal, and black.
