About Mrs. Penguin

Happy Monday Ladies! A few months back, we had a discussion on the boards as to the meanings of all these crazy wedding related abbreviations. When I was first engaged, I began reading Knottie bios and noticed that a lot of girls would talk about their “E-Rings”. I thought that an E-Ring was some newfangled electronic ring that girls were getting from their fiances, similar to an “E-Mail”. I wondered for over a month why I had never heard of this new fad in “virtual ring giving”. So here they are, in all their strange abbreviated glory.

May you never be confused again as to why girls are getting so excited over their newly acquired STDs.

That’s so funny. I spent about 3 months trying to figure out what DH meant on the knottie boards. You did forget one though, b-pics!

Epics had me confused for a long time. Finally I saw someone hyphenate it - e-pics - and it clicked for me. Engagement Pictures.

Are b-pics Bridal Pictures?

The one that took me the longest to figure out was AW. Like when someone has something good to say (like bought a dress, or pro pics, new bio, etc.) they say “AW: Pro Pics”. The AW stands for “attention whore.” My guess is it probably started out negative at first…girls who posted about something good in their lives were just seeking attention, but now everyone uses it…it’s like saying “yep I want attention and I’m proud of it, now go look at my great pics!”

oh one more XP - stands for “cross post” like when you ask a question on your local board but you are also asking it on another board.

Dirty Delete - its when you write a post, get flamed by others, and then delete (because you regret writing it and you’re upset with the responses youre getting) it even though some people have already read it…
thats my interpretation!

B pics are Boudoir Pictures

Ha! Even though I know what it stands for, I can’t help but read DH as designated hitter. That’s the Cards fan in me!

That clears up sooo many things lol. I knew I was reading things wrong but i just didn’t know what things stood for. I orginally learned DH to be Deployed Husband and that took awhile to recognize just to be husband. lol.

It took me a while to figure out what an “AW” post was. So for anyone else that might be wondering, it means “attention whore.” Cute, eh? :)

This is not wedding-related, but a friend of mine thought that LOL meant “lots of love” for the longest time. So whenever we’d email each other, she thought I was sending her “lots of love” when I was actually laughing at her jokes/quirks. LOL.
