I have known for some time that my wedding shoes would be red. Since it is both my favorite color and my accent color, I thought it would be appropriate to “accent” my outfit with an adorable… oh, who am I kidding… a HOT red shoe (because, I have to admit, some of the appeal is in the shock value).

I had conducted some extensive searches online, but it led me to two conclusions:

1) All the shoes I liked would make me too tall. Mr. Bubblegum is about 2 inches taller, but when I wear heels, he’s in trouble. For this one day, he requested that he not be made to look shorter.

2) All the shoes I liked were hella expensive. I was not about to spend half as much on my shoes as on my dress.

For a while, I had stopped looking. That is, however, until I stumbled upon THE ONES.

I was in Payless (yes, I buy most of my shoes at Payless) looking for some cute flats (which, by the way, I found. They’re gold and pointy and I heart them). At the time, I was in flats-mode. So when I saw THE ONES, I did NOT make the connection. In fact, I thought, “what a hot red shoe… I wish I had some reason to buy such a hot red shoe.” I even walked away.

Thirty seconds later, I turned around, shuffled back, and grabbed THE ONES off the shelf.

At 2.5″, these babies are the perfect height when Mr. Bubblegum wears shoes (hm, Payless’ website says 1.5″, but I measured). Plus, they’re the prettiest and comfiest shoes I’ve ever seen. The best part was, they were $19.99!!!!!
