Feeling A Font Out…

I blogged quite awhile ago about one of my favorite fonts ever, Burgues Script, and how lovely it is for Weddings. Well, I recently acquired a new font by the same designer that would be uber-lovely to use for celebrations as well, especially for those vintage-inspired fetes! This time around, it’s Feel Script!

Again, this is one of those $99 designer fonts (available here) that not everyone needs, but it’s a small price to pay to accent your event from top to bottom! I told Mr. Lemon that this font reminds me of walking down Main Street USA eating an ice cream cone… it’s perfect for a happy and fun wedding!

For those of you looking for the bargain fonts (free or of the cheap variety), I’ll hop in with some recommendations for you too!

Ooohhh… i love it too! And I absolutely agree with your Main Street USA reference - good call! It definitely evokes an image of signs written in this font at one of those old-fashioned soda fountain counters. With a soda jerk in a crisp white uniform and hat.

If you sign up for an account with Veer then you can use a tool they call Flont, which gives you a preview of your text in the font. Very neat to do before spending the 100 bucks!

oh, it’s so lovely!… but $99 for a font seems a bit steep to me???

Also, P22 has a typecaster tool to test out a font in a sample box too; and with Myfonts, I think you can type in “fancy wedding font” in their search box and some suggestions will come up :)

From my experience working at a font foundry, $99 is sometimes standard price. However, it depends on the foundry. We have families of 14 fonts for $99, single fonts for $19.95, while large companies like House or Adobe sell one font for $150 sometimes. Of course, there are free fonts out there- make sure they are legal! But, you won’t get all the characters and consistency quality most of the time.

I love it, it reminds me of Disneyland script! Hopefully there is something similar our there for less than $99…

If you’re looking for a similar font, Monterey (ironic, eh?) is what this font was based on… which is around $25

Alejandro Paul, the font artist, expanded the font into Feel Script by examining calligraphy and really adding to the font with 1200 different flourishes.

Mrs. Lemon,
What a delightful font! I’ll have to bookmark this one. Thanks for posting. You’re always so creative and resourceful. You’re right, it does remind me of an ice cream shop on Main Street right in my neighborhood too. It’s a pretty script font that is legible unlike some others.

aww, that font is exactly how I would love my handwriting to look :\ Would love to see if there was a free alternative to this look.

I second the question about a non-script font to go along with the feel script. So far I am using Chopin (free from dafont) and garamond for the body text. I am going the Gocco route. Don’t know much about fonts so any advice would be great.
