Who’s Planning The Honeymoon?

December 4th, 2007 @ 3:45 pm by Miss Toucan

Like most grooms, Mr. Toucan has let me make most of our wedding decisions. He’s watched me get crazy obsessive over color schemes, centerpieces, and much, much more. The one thing Mr. Toucan DOES want a say in, is the honeymoon. We discussed for a long time where we wanted to go, and it always came back to Italy (the one place I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go).

Though I’m usually the one that plans our vacations, Mr. Toucan has decided plan this particular trip. With him planning and researching the whole trip, there’s still a small element of surprise in it for me!

Who’s planning (planned) your honeymoon?

The groom. He was dead set on taking a nice, long, relaxing honeymoon after the wedding.

I’m planning the whole thing, everything from the flights to the hotels

My FI is supposed to plan it but since he is sooo involved in the rest of the wedding planning we’ll probably just do it together like everything else!

Keely says:

FI is planning it - as a surprise! I have absolutely no idea where we’re going or what we’ll be doing (this is quite a traditional thing to do here in the UK). I do know that we leave after the day of the wedding, and we agreed the budget, but that’s about it. Has actually been really nice to have one less thing to think about and plan - and I can’t wait to find out where we’re off to!

Well - we both did lots of researching and talked locations together. So as far as planning where to go - both. I did all the booking though. I am online all day at work and he’s not - so it’s just easier for me. Plus I have the most experience.

My friends have dubbed me the ‘cruise director’. I’ve been planning big group trips for everyone for years! Seriously I even have payment plans set up for our trips!! They are a blast and the countdown is on for SNOWSHOE08!

He is. Since my parents and I are taking care of all the wedding costs. His parents are paying for the honeymoon, so he’s planning it. But of course, I can’t help but give my opinions. ;0)

we’re planning it together. for most things (flowers, invitations, attire) i have free rein, for some things (location, food) he wanted to have input, and some things (honeymoon) we are working on together. however, i love to bargain hunt and arrange and plan, so he’ll let me do the actual booking because it makes me happy. :)

I told him that it’s traditional for the groom to plan, but it’ll probably never really get planned if I leave it to him and I like to be in control of this sort of thing anyway. We decided we’re going to Hawaii and to make the planning easy on me, I think we’re going to do a cruise.

I planned it - he gave his opinions.

Same as Keely ~ my FI is planning the honeymoon entirely and it’s a surprise :) We leave the day after the wedding and are going somewhere for 8 days . . . I’ve been told that bikini’s are appropriate, so at least I know how to pack. I love that he is so excited to plan this part and he’s like a little kid all excited to be keeping this secret from me :)

I’m the same as Keely and Maegan! I completely trust my FI with this. He’s very good at this sort of things and loves vacations. I think I’ve convinced him to tell me at the reception in front of our guests, so they can know too.

My fiance suprised me by picking out a romantic castle out in the Finger Lakes, NY and suggesting we honeymoon there. We decided on the dates together after talking about the rates for the room we wanted, but he did all the reservations and sight-seeing plans himself!

Between picking out this great honeymoon spot and splitting all the wedding planning work with me, my fiance’s made me feel so blessed and loved.

We have tentative plans but lately I’ve been thinking of planning a surprise honeymoon and totally not telling him a thing. :-D

My guy planned ours and had a great time finding all the cool places we could go to.

We’re planning together. We both knew that we wanted a relaxing beach vacation, preferably an all-inclusive resort for budget purposes, outside of the US but nowhere that we’d ever been before for a total cost of in or around $3000. Since we’d both travelled in the Western Hemisphere a bit, this was easier said than done.

However, I paid it off yesterday, and we are so ready for our vacation in the Dominican Republic!

Me. But we settled on a destination together — we’re going to Italy as well! After that was decided, I’ve planned pretty much everything else with the help of a travel agent. Fiance gets veto power, though :)
