I Love To Scheme

December 6th, 2007 @ 1:07 pm by Mrs. Bubblegum

Okay, so I have to be the first to say it: my color scheme is weird. In fact, it’s mostly based on our couch:

When the whole process began, I envisioned it slightly differently. I wanted a warm atmosphere created by sage, espresso, and cream:

I judged every venue on its ability to incorporate this color scheme. At one point, I thought I had found the one:

However, the only way to enter this beautiful room was via three stairscases (no elevator). Because we obviously did not want to exclude any guests that would have issues with that, we passed on this venue. After many spreadsheet analyses and several venue visits, we found the one for us:

However, the stark white walls are not condusive to creating the warm atmosphere I was originally going for. So back to square one. I knew that I wanted a light sage to be my main color. And with the stark white walls of our reception hall, I felt that cream would need to change to white. So now the color scheme was:

But suddenly the brown was just not working for me. I stared at the picture of our reception hall looking for inspiration. I finally came to the conclusion that my favorite part of the picture was the touches of red from the strawberries on the champagne glasses. And so, red it was.. but as an accent color. And so finally, my color scheme is best shown as this:

It’s weird, I know. But honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way.

No, it’s not weird at all. It’s beautiful, Miss Bubblegum! Your color scheme is so fresh.

My color scheme is along the same lines…mostly white (my dress, of course, all stationary and reception linens, some flowers) but with hints of navy (suits and maybe MOH dress), green (lots of greenery), and orange (flowers). I’m hoping for a classic but “elegant outdoorsy” feel.

I can’t wait to see your wedding come together!

I don’t think it’s weird at all! I’m slightly obsessed with color scheme’s and it’s refreshing to see new ones!
I love it! I can’t wait to see all the things you pull together to create it too!

I don’t think it is “weird” - but unusual…and original!

Really like the colors! The accent really does liven up the minty sage you have and lets the white pop without making things look stark.

Miss Bubblegum! It’s like fate that you blogged about your color scheme today because I am needing some inspiration… our colors also include this hard-to-define strawberry color, and I’m on the hunt for bridesmaid dresses in the same tone. I’d love to see any gems you’ve found so far! ;)
