About Mrs. Milkshake

Thanks For Having Me!

December 6th, 2007 @ 5:50 pm by Mrs. Milkshake

Hi! I’m the new Miss Milkshake! I’m a sucker for homemade strawberry smoothies (which I incorrectly call milkshakes) and coconut bubble tea, and Share Bear was my favorite Care Bear growing up!

sharebear

I also like the ring to the name - it’s got some kickin’ alliteration, and since I’m about 5’2, it could almost be “Little Miss Milkshake” and pay homage to that Mr. Men series of childhood books (I’m sure we have a lot of children from the 80’s here!).

I’m about 8 months away from my wedding but all I have so far is my fantastic videographers, still-motion, that you’ll remember from a few posts about the infamous “Amy and Alex wedding”:

And my venue with its totally gorgeous little rooms. I’ve done a tonne of research into everything else. I’m going to probably start with a series of posts of my favorite wedding venues in the Great Vancouver Area, because at first - it seemed like the only two options were a hotel or a golf course, the first of which I had my high school graduation at, the second of which we had my dad’s 40th birthday at. There is a lot more out there, but they’re so hard to find! My venue wasn’t listed anywhere I looked for ideas, and I just happened to stumble upon it from a local photographer’s website.

I’m a photographer as a hobby, so my wedding photography is obviously very important to me (also a lot of favorites to share), and my posts will always be full of images for eye candy.

My life revolves around diy - I make handbags and jewelry, so I’m hoping to put my skills to the test for my wedding by way of invites, gifts, centerpieces etc etc, share the process with you (again, hooray for pictures!), and point out my favorite “indie crafty businesses” if you appreciate diy but won’t necessarily jump in and tackle it.

So for right now I’ve got:

video guys, check!
a venue, check!
a ring, check! (which isn’t 2 carats or however huge this one is!)

Cheers!

Oh we were so close to hiring Still Motion… but it just couldn’t happen with our budget. You’re very lucky!!!

I love your venue pictures… so original! I regret not going to Vancouver when I lived in WA. :( Another excuse to visit!

Welcome!! Any chance you’ve looked in to Seattle venues before you did your Vancouver research? :)

Double yeah!!! I’m a Vancouver bride so I can’t wait to hear of any resources you’ve found! I know what you mean about venues, we didn’t want to go the golf course/hotel route (our bar bill would be through the roof there!) and we had a hard time finding a place.

Can I ask how many guests your venue holds? It looks gorgeous!

Hooray fo young brides! Always happy to see more hadling it well, doing great, and staying together for years - maybe people will stop making the “too young” comments that can be borderline rude. Not any of YOU guys, more like people IRL.

Hi Miss Milkshake! My girlfriend had her wedding there last summer. It was truly the most stunning and elegant wedding I had been to in Vancouver. You’re right, there are great venues in the city, and most are hidden gems. As a wedding planner here, clients are always surprised with some of the venues that we come up with. Good luck with your planning!

YAY! A Vancouver Bride on Wedding Bee. Vancouver wedding resources are so few and far between, and absolutely impossible to find. Venues seem to be either community rec centers with fakie wood panelling or places that charge 20 grand plus food plus booze plus service plus 15% ’service’ fee plus taxes… gives me hives just thinking about it! WELCOME :)

Hi Miss Milkshake, welcome from another Vancouver bride!

Where is your venue? I can’t quite recognize it, but it’s gorgeous!

Your venue looks great! I’m in the Seattle area, so it’s great to see a northwesterner…well you’re farther northwest…anyway, I love Vancouver BC. :-) Fun to see a local…more local than most the others…bee. ;-)

Oh yeah, obviously I have a care bear thing going on, too. ;-)
