Shoe Dilemma

December 7th, 2007 @ 1:06 pm by Ms. Dahlia

You may recall, after much blood, sweat, and tears, I found my perfect pair of shoes. Yes, these shoes:

Mr. Dahlia and I are off to see the Nutcracker Ballet downtown tonight. These are perfect shoes to go with the little black dress that I intend to wear. I need to begin breaking them in, and practice walking in them. And I got red shoes in part because I would wear them multiple times after the wedding. Only thing is, the wedding isn’t until May.

Is it wrong to wear my shoes before the wedding day? If you were in my shoes (pun partially intended), would you wear them tonight?

Do it! They’re too pretty not to show off!

I really want to wear mine before the wedding too because I love them, but alycia=crazy clutz. So I’m making myself wait until afterwards

I guess I’m a bit of a Klutz but I would only break them in at home, I would be to worried that I would get them wet, stain the fabric or worst rip the fabric and be pissed off that I ruined them before the big day…plus the whole “special” concept of new wedding shoes would go out the window.

I don’t see why not. It’s a great idea, actually! And it’s for a special occasion too, as long as you don’t make them your go-to shoes and wear them out before your wedding…and even then you could still get another pair!

I am going through the exact same issue! I have a Christmas party tomorrow night, and my silver shoes for my wedding would look awesome with my cocktail dress. But my wedding’s not until April… and I’m torn!

I probably wouldn’t, but I’m the kind of person who keeps nice stationery for show on my desk, but doesn’t want to actually use it. I’d be too afraid of diminishing the newness and specialness of my wedding shoes.

That being said, if you don’t have my hang-ups, you should definitely wear them :) They are too gorgeous for words and would be hot with a little black dress.

only wear them if you are prepared that they could get ruined and you would need to buy another pair- satin shoes are super easy to ruin- and you want them to look perfect for the wedding. or just go ahead and buy a second pair so you don’t have to worry about it!

def. wear them and get as much use out of your shoes as possible… plus you would feel more comfortable once theyre broken in for the big day!

I say wear them. It would be much better to find out tonight that they are horribly uncomfortable after an hour and really slippery on the bottoms (for instance) then the day of your wedding when you don’t have any other choice! Plus they are gorgeous!!!

I would absolutely wear the shoes tonight! I love the look of red shoes with…pretty much anything :) but a black outfit with red shoes especially.

PS: I LOVE the nutcracker! going to see it is one of my most favorite holiday activities.

Do you have as much snow as we do right now? I’d stay away from wearing them outside until there is no chance of slush, snow, ice, or rain! Of course, if you’re walking into an attached garage, getting into a car, driving there, getting out in a covered garage, walking inside to the hall, and never once setting a foot outside, then go for it. :)
