You Picked A Dress… Right?

December 9th, 2007 @ 3:51 pm by Mrs. Gummi Bear

I did! Yes, after all the horrible things we went through, from wishy-washy dress reconsiderations to an alteration manager that made me feel like poo, I did finally get a dress and have it altered! Which dress was it? The original dress, of course!

Mmm lace…

After the ceremony and some quick photos (thank god! I’m so camera shy, I’m glad they were over in a few minutes!), they rushed me off to get dressed for the Korean ceremony. I opted to put on a sash and bustle my dress for the remainder of the day so I could frolic if I felt so inclined. I didn’t, but I did do a lot of squatting. Perhaps I’m just an avid squatter, but I felt that I was often very low to the ground.

Here I am trouncing around in my dress at the meal - as you can see, Mr. GB was too busy stuffing his face to walk with me. If anyone who was at the wedding wanted to know where he was, I just want you to know that Pork + Crackling > Our Guests to Mr. GB.

I look depressed or something in the second photo, but I swear it has nothing to do with my brother-in-law, he is just the unfortunate victim of me in a not-so-happy looking pose staring down at him as if he’d done something horribly wrong. He actually did help a lot, so we have photographic evidence of this. And since I can’t get away without posting at least one portrait that we took, I had to share this one - which I really feel captures us and the general feeling of the event. This is the only one I’m posting! Any reader who wasn’t clicking on this post would miss out on this photo without even knowing they were missing this once in a lifetime chance to see a photo of Mrs. GB not looking purposefully idiotic.

Although I finally have photos (and am out of excuses), I don’t even know where to start in what to tell everyone about my day! If there is anything you are dying to see photos of or hear about, let me know and I’ll get to them one by one. Otherwise you will be subject to my out of order, totally whacked out posts that have nothing to do with what anyone cares about. Next week’s post will be “Ode to my toe jam that caused me much discomfort during the ceremony” if someone doesn’t help put me on the path of useful topics. And I will even photoshop some images of me and some toe-jam if it comes to it.

PS. We both wore our glasses during the ceremony, so all you 4-eyed brides, show your lens appreciation and wear them proudly down the aisle!

Hi! I love your blog…I have a wedding-ish blog as well:

http://ranunculusadventure.blogspot.com/

I am the owner of a wedding florist (Oakes Fields in Colorado), and I post all my pictures and flower thoughts along with stuff about life in general. I was looking for a bunch of wedding blogs to try and make a group. If you like it, I could link to your page and yours to mine?

Let me know! Thanks!

I’ve been trying to figure out if I want to wear my glasses or if I’m going to wear contacts. Did you mull over this too or was it just natural for you to put on your glasses?

I’ve debated if I’m going to wear my glasses during my wedding, and the more I think about it (and see pictures) the more it just makes sense for me to. I’ve worn glasses since second grade (besides a short stint in high school where I wore contacts). My fiance and I both will be rocking the glasses our wedding day.

Mrs. Gummi Bear says:

Hi everyone!! Thank you so much for all the compliments!

The cufflinks are indeed scrabble pieces, I found them on Etsy since Mr. GB and I are avid Scrabble players.

It was never a doubt in my mind that I’d be wearing glasses, they are part of who I am. :) In fact, when my hair was done it was all out of my face completely, and I had her loosen them up a bit because I have lived my whole life with my fringe a little here and there and it just wasn’t me with it all clean and tidy! I think if you and everyone else knows you with glasses and you feel more like you with them on, why not wear them?

Jo says:

If you’re taking requests for pictures, I looove hair and makeup pics.

I’m a 4 eyed bride. I’m still going back and forth about wearing my glasses. I think I’m worried about whether or not it will cause glare in the pictures. Anyhow, love the pics.

So, I just wanted to say that you look GORGEOUS in that dress. Even though it can be a very formal sophisticated dress I think you look very relaxed and comfortable in it.
I HATE pictures being taken of me (I am the most unphotogenic person in the world I think), so I definitely know how you feel about being camera shy, but you look too cute in these pictures!

I love the dress, and would love to know where you got it. I am getting married in May in SF and haven’t found a dress yet, and am getting scared with “only” 5.5 months to go. I’d love to know what shops you liked in the area.

If anyone has this dress in a size 8 and would be willing to part with it, I am looking to purchase one for my Aug ‘08 wedding! Please contact me: love joy wisdom at hotmail dot com (no spaces)!

Thank you for your time!
