Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Flowers For The Kiwis

December 10th, 2007 @ 3:10 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I absolutely LOVED our florist. Utopian Design created some amazing displays for us, and even added something a little special into the bouquet for me.

Here is my bouquet:

Here is another picture, but a little easier to see the flowers better:

In my bouquet was cream colored roses, white freesia (my absolute favorite flower ever), terracotta calla lilies, hypericum berries, and a surprise: rusty colored ranunculus. My grandma loved flowers, and one of her favorites were sweet peas- I had planned on putting some in my bouquet in memory of her. Unfortunately, those are not available in November. So, I asked around the family, and found out ranunculus was another favorite! I let the florist know very last minute, and didn’t think she’d have a chance to get them. Well- she did! It was such a surprise, and so amazing to see. Although Grandma wasn’t there in person, I had a little something in my hands to remember her by.

The mom’s flowers were equally cool. Both wanted wrist corsages because their blouses were very delicate, and would pull or tear with pins. Their flowers were calla lilies and roses with some hypericum berries.

Here are my mom’s flowers:

And Mr. Kiwi’s mom’s flowers:

My dad with his flowers, and his “crazy face”. His flowers had a calla lily and some hypericum berries. The best man, and ushers also had the same kind.

The best man:

And one of the ushers:

The ring bearer only had the hypericum berries, since he’s only four. Yes, that is a bit of a black eye you see there!

Our flower girl had a wreath and a flower wand filled with roses and freesia and hypericum berries. She loved it.

Mr. Kiwi had a calla lily and a rose, and some hypericum berries. Those berries are awesome.

The flowers before the pinning.

And these are not from our florist, but they are flowers! We invited a set of parents from Mr. Kiwi’s school. According to their Polish tradition (their kids/Mr. Kiwi’s students are 1st generation Americans), the guests bring roses for the bride. Right after the ceremony, they hung around and handed me this beautiful bouquet of long stemmed red roses. I was so touched!

I really couldn’t have been happier with the wedding flowers. The freesia smelled fantastic and the colors were exactly what I wanted.
