We’re Married! (Again)

December 12th, 2007 @ 10:29 am by Mrs. Snow Pea

After 3 long months, I finally got my wedding band.  The first time around wasn’t the band I asked for, so we returned it to the jeweler for something else. He was still having a hard timing making what I wanted, so finally I opted for a simple eternity band and it’s perfect. I was getting quite annoyed and antsy not having a wedding band on. People kept asking if I was married yet and why I didn’t have my band on. With holiday parties coming up, I just wanted a ring already!

It’s a size 5, 1/2 carat weight in diamonds set in platinum. Since losing weight, I have gone from a ring size of 5.75 to 4.5. But we left the band and e-ring sized to a 5 for some cushion in the “future”. The jeweler placed balls on the inside of the e-ring, so that it would be a “4.5″.

With my engagement ring. It doesn’t sit completely flush because of the way my e-ring setting is, but it didn’t bother me as long as the wedding band fit “below” the prongs which you will see in the next picture.

In the middle here, it sits flush which is what I wanted.

Yeh! Holiday parties, here I come!

For one reason or another, have you had to take your wedding band or e-ring back for a fix?

YAY!! Your band looks exactly like mine!! Actually mine is ALMOST an eternity band. There is a 0.25 inch section w/o diamonds to make it easier for future sizing. I was told that if the diamonds go all the way around, it is more difficult to size…

Oh my god, yes. I had my e-ring sized the day after I got it, because it slid off way too easily. It was a “5 loose” to start, and then they sized it down a bit. Three weeks later I took it in to get sized down even MORE because it was still loose. Instead they put sizing balls in, and it’s perfect now. I left the wedding band the original size, though– it’s protected by the e-ring, and it’s good to have some leeway for weight gain/pregnancy.

Hi Mrs. Emerald,
Darn, that was a good idea! Mine was all the way around and we just left it a size 5 instead of 4.5

We are having my e-ring custom made by a local jeweler. We leave for our holiday trip to my home town on the 20th, we get my e-ring on the 18th! Let me tell you, I have been having anxiety dreams and have become a nervous wreck as the day comes nearer. My parents are throwing us an engagement party and I am dying to have my ring! Not just to show off, but that’s fun too! :) keep your fingers crossed for me!

They look gorgeous together! I just got my e-ring on the 7th and may have to take it back for a new plating. It’s 14K WG, and I have never had problems with a ring like I do with this one- first it looked yellow underneath the stone, now on one side, there is some discoloration to the gold. Arggh! I may wait until after the holidays to take it in just in case I don’t get it back in time. :)

Natakie, I noticed the same with my 14K WG jewelry. That’s why for both my e-ring and band, I insisted on platinum even though it’s higher in price but it’s supposed to last forever and I didn’t want to deal with taking it back each time to have it redipped. I’d wait till after the holiday rush so you have it.

I had to bring my wedding band back 4 months after we got married due to a diamond falling out of the channel setting. Thankfully all was replaced with no cost due to the warranty, insurance, and it being a defect in the setting, but I felt lost for two weeks without my band and even worse for losing on of the diamonds…

I have to bring my e-ring back to the jeweler AGAIN bc the setting I picked out is too small for the diamond and the diamond is loose again.

I left both rings at home during our honeymoon upon my husband’s insistence. He was nervous having such and expensive piece of jewelry with us in Costa Rica - I didn’t mind - but I was very excited to slip them back on my hand the day I got home!!

The next morning at work by some freak event - pushing my hair behind my ear - one of the diamonds got caught in my earring and popped out. Since there was a tug I happened to look at my hand and notice the diamond sitting there on my finger next to the ring! I was shocked!

We took it back to the jeweler and it was fixed for free - plus reinforced. There was no bend or damage to the prongs so I’m still not sure how it got loose! It was a bummer to take the ring off right after I had gotten it back!!

I had to get my ring sized but the jeweler suggested a ‘bridge’ be put in instead of balls because I had to go down a size and a half… I guess FI was a little off!

Congrats on your jingle-bell bling! I do think it looks much better than the not-right ring. Now you just have to get Mr SP to say the ring part of the ceremony to you again with this one—- on beeTV, of course. (1000 points)

I am engaged and haven’t worn my e-ring in about 2 months because of some weight loss. My e-ring and band are eternity settings so we can not have them sized either. I was surprised to read that Mrs. SP is having balls placed in her band because that is what our jeweler is going to do as well and everytime I tell my friends that I am having lil balls placed in my ring they think I am crazy…..Good to know someone understands.

My e-ring wasn’t going to fit with any wedding band (kind of like yours, the band gets wider toward the center stone). So, when we went looking for a wedding band, I got something completely different that I wear on my right hand…THEN…

We went to the Washington State-Washington football game (Apple Cup) and I turned that thing to the inside. By the end of the night I could hear some jingling–the center stone was loose! Luckily I had a ring box in my car and it’s on its way to get all fixed, shiny and tight for the holidays!

Jennifer says:

Yay, I’m glad you finally got what you wanted! Your set looks beautiful.

Iris says:

:o, we have almost an identical set of e-ring and wedding band. :) I have a different center stone on the e-ring.
