Mrs. Cupcake's Picture
Mrs. Cupcake, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 27, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Construction Project Manager Engagement Date: February 10, 2007 Wedding Date: September, 2008 Blogging Since: December 7, 2007 Venue: The Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PA About Me: Mr. Cupcake and I hit it off at a Halloween party and immediately began a long-distance relationship. After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.
About Mrs. Cupcake

During the summer lull in the land of television, I watched an old favorite, The Wonder Years, every night at 10 p.m. on ion. As a true old soul at heart, I am a sucker for any show with a nostalgic vibe…. who cares if I wasn’t even alive in the 60s? I think we can all relate despite what decade we grew up during.

I was only 8 years old when The Wonder Years premiered, and from the very beginning I had a HUGE crush on the adorable Kevin Arnold (played by Fred Savage). I especially loved the scenes with him and Winnie Cooper, since no matter what the era, I think we all can relate to their young love. Silly fights, jealousy, the anticipation of a first kiss, the nervousness of attending a make-out party. We’ve all been there in some way or another. Through everything, Kevin and Winnie always came back to each other and just “got” each other.

I always wanted my very own Kevin Arnold to my Winnie Cooper.

Is there a couple (fictional or not) that you always daydreamed you’d be like someday?

Uh yeah, with every fiber of my young and naive being: Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe.

If you’ve read the books or seen the movies you know what I mean!

Give it up for “Anne with an e”!

oooh, I loved Kevin & Winnie too! But my absolute fave couple would have to be Corey and Tapanga on Boy Meets World!
It’s probably because I was about their age when the show was playing…

When I was in high school, it was all about Jordan Catalano and Angela Chase. Like the bee below, I had my own Jordan Catalano, but I never got to make out in the boiler room with him, and he never spoke out in english class about why shakespear was still in love with his mistress, “though her eyes were nothing like the sun”

In high school, it was all Mulder and Scully for me! Even though I never wanted them together during the show :)

My sister was certain that she would marry Fred Savage!! We loved watching Wonder Years as a family. Good times!!

I love Jim and Pam to a point of acting like they are actually a real life couple. And Felicity and Noel. Ahhhhh how I love Noel.

When I was a kid, it was all about Samantha Baker and Jake Ryan (Sixteen Candles), Lloyd Dobler and Diane Court (Say Anything), Andie Walsh and Blane McDonaugh or Duckie! (Pretty in Pink), Wesley and Buttercup (The Princess Bride), and of course BABY HOUSEMAN and JOHNNY CASTLE!

Now I think Amelie and Nino are adorable, as are Jim and Pam.

Anne and Gilbert all the way!!! Second running would be Gus and Felicity from Road to Avonlea. As a side-nerd note, I’ve met both Jonathan Crombie (Gilbert) and Michael Mahonen (Gus) and they are both just as sweet and amazingly nice IRL as they appear on screen. For those in the US Jon’s in The Drowsy Chaperone Broadway Tour and it’s super easy to meet him afterwards. He’s a total sweetie. Ahh…. fandoms. LOL

What great couples you all mentioned! I was a BIG fan of “Anne of Green Gables”…. I didn’t even think of Anne and Gilbert!

And I also sometimes pretend that Jim and Pam on “The Office” are real. If they are, I want to go on double-dates with them!

I love The Wonder Years.

My ultimate fictional couple is definitely Anne and Gilbert Blythe. I’ve read the books lots of times since childhood. My mother has actually promised to make me 37 doilies. (fortunately she’s crochets beautiful doilies)
