Anne Barge Bridal Couture

December 13th, 2007 @ 1:32 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

While searching for my wedding dress, I soon realized that I was drawn to all Anne Barge gowns. I don’t know whether it was the styles or just the details, but the gowns are absolutely stunning. Every fold, fabric, embellishment… has been chosen carefully and used to flatter the female figure. It simply blew me away.

Gown Designer: Anne Barge

Of course my budget didn’t allow to have such a glamorous dress , but I am sure for those who had the chance to wear a Anne Barge dress… it must’ve been WOW.

Each retailer hand selects each wedding dress from the Anne Barge collection for their bridal stores. Therefore, each retailer may carry a different type of wedding gown from her collection. Gowns range from $2,900 - $10,000.

Who is your dream wedding gown designer?

I looove Justina McCaffrey. I admit I like the big princessy dresses. I couldn’t afford her, but found a very similar dress for a third of the cost.

I thought that a Reem would be the ultimate dress - but i decided to go try some on (because when else will i ever get to try on a 4,000 dollar dress???). And they actually didn’t look all that great on me (the styles just weren’t right for me). They are still gorgeous on some girls - just not me.

it used to be vera wang when i was a bit younger [like, high school - before i was aware of how much things actually cost, lol] but now i’m absolutely infatuated with local designer amy kuschel since i saw her dress in san francisco magazine’s wedding edition a few years ago. i still have that magazine tucked under my bed!

I’m dying for an Anne Barge or a Pronovias dress… too bad my budget hates me!

Sigh - I would have LOVED to have a Claire Pettibone dress.

Judd Waddell - the satin in their ads always looks delectable.

Tea–I second Amy Kuschel. Her studio in SF is gorgeous and such a fun place try try on dresses. The studio has huge mirrors and a ton of open space so you can really walk around. It’s not like any other bridal shop I’ve been to. If you live in the Bay Area, you should really make an appointment.

Im so jealous Mrs.Bee… you got an Anne Barge dress. Every time I flip through a Mag and I love a dress… guess what .. its an Anne Barge gown. If only my budget allowed it…

Either way, I love my dress. But as a designer… shes one of my faves.

Vera Wang! Everything she designs is so classic and elegant and I never thought I’d be able to have one of her gowns seeing how it isn’t so readily available where I live. But lucky me, my parents bought me my dream Vera Wang dress as a wedding gift!

If I could afford it, I would love to have either an Amsale or Monique Lhullier gown. I love the softness and feminity of their designs. However, since I don’t have the $$, I am having a dress made similar to a Carole Peretz design (also out of my price range)!

Judd Waddell. Too pricey for me though! So I went with David’s Bridal instead.

Anne Barge was the designer of my dream gown…capped sleeves, dropped waist, beautiful detail. I love checking out her newest creations and her photos are always so classy.

I didn’t get the dress (budget constraints), but it was what I compared everything too.

Monique Lhuillier (and I’m so estatic that I got one I love!) and Amsale would be a close runner up.

When I was designing my dress, Amy Michelson was my biggest influence - I love her sleek silhouettes!

Whoa! I wore that bottom left Anne Barge when I tried on accessories at a bridal trunk show! It was so pretty. But I love my Monique Lhuillier. :)
