The New Candy Buffet

December 13th, 2007 @ 5:48 pm by Mrs. Flamingo

While reading through The Knot magazine edition awhile back, I came across an article and thought I would share. There has been a huge craze for candy buffets, but have you considered an alternative? I introduce to you a flavored popcorn buffet… a.k.a. the new candy buffet.

What is great about this favor idea… is that it gives your guests the option to mix and match their favorite flavors. You can personalize each glass container with a ribbon and a tag with the featured popcorn written either by hand or using a computer font that matches the rest of your stationery. This is a unique idea that will definitely make your guests talk!

Are you doing an alternative to the candy buffet?

We were going to do a cookie buffet, but then decided to scrap the favor thing altogether.

The popcorn idea is also great for people looking for non-sugary alternatives. I might have to steal it…

Our candy table is more like a “sweets we like” table. There are chocolate truffles, a few packaged Taiwanese desserts, and there might be homemade biscotti if I get around to it. And now, there might be popcorn for those who don’t have a sweet tooth. Though, popcorn goes stale very easily, so that’s something to keep in mind.

We are going to have homemade cookies and treats. A few family members from each side are going to make their signature cookie. And of course we will have milk and hot coco.

I think that is a great idea.

It might be a good idea to include toothpicks or floss with it too. Nothing more annoying than popcorn in your gums!

This is a great alternative and popcorn can be colored to match your wedding theme and popcorn is less expensive.

Well, I’m from Canada… so I don’t know the States very much. Im sure if you google it… you can find something interesting. I would defintely try some before ordering in bulk.

Another option would be to make it yourself… im sure that wouldnt be sooo hard and you would be costing costs by alot.

Hmm, popcorn. Well, at least it’ll be cheaper than most candy. Then again, that gourmet stuff is pretty pricey. You could definitely make your own, at least in a few simple flavors, though.

On first glance, I thought the jars were filled with cheese doodles, chips and nuts. I’m so a salty snack girl, and thought, “How brilliant!” But popcorn is yummy, too :-) . We’ve already picked our favors, or I’d be thinking about Cheesy Poofs in a jar…..

I love this idea, but I am wondering what kind of container/bag to put out for the guests to scoop the popcorn in so it can stay fresh and not get look greasy from the outside? What are some ideas? Thank you!
