Say “Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh”

This was me yesterday:

Okay, that’s not actually me, but I did go to the dentist ysterday morning for the first time in quite awhile. (This is what happens when your insurance plan changes and the dentist you’ve been going to since before you were born retires.)

Anyways, as I was at the dentist, I remembered something from a trip to the (old, awesome) dentist awhile back.

(Cue smokey haze and nostalgic music.)
I’m reading Highlights Magazine in the waiting room, as I wait patiently for my turn to get my teeth cleaned. My mom dropped me off so that I could run in while she parked the car and brought my brothers in. There is a woman getting her teeth cleaned before me, and when she comes out, the hygienist (I think her name was Sue, but it might have been something else) tells me that the woman is getting married that Saturday, and wanted to come in and get her teeth cleaned so they were pretty for her wedding day. I think it very strange that someone would want to go to the dentist right before their wedding to get their teeth cleaned. Won’t regular brushing be good enough?

(Smoke gradually clears and focus is on present day Miss Dahlia.)

I’m scheduling an appointment in May, not long before the wedding so that I can have my teeth look nice and pretty for the wedding.

Anyone else making a trip to the dentist before the wedding day? Are you doing anything else to prep your pearly whites?

I had all my silver fillings replaced with white ones so when the camera captures my smile, it’s all white inside!

i went 2 weeks before my wedding & found out i had a cavity. NEVER have a cavity filled (or any other crazy work) done the week of your wedding. dentist messed it up, i could barely eat at the reception!

I have an appointment for a “touch up” cleaning the week before my wedding so my teeth are shiny white. There’s just something about that spinning brush thing that gets teeth so sparkly white. :D I also plan to use whitestrips about 6 weeks prior to the wedding… I don’t have gross teeth or anything, but I think sparkly white teeth make people look attractive and younger, so off to the dentist I go!

I work at a dental office, so I could take my pick of what I wanted done and when in relation to my wedding. I started at home bleaching about 6mos prior, had my teeth cleaned 3 days prior and made sure all of my fillings were done in white.
It was wonderful!!

Yes! I’ve been going to the same dentist since I was eight and most of the folks there know me, so when I said I was getting married they scheduled a dentist appointment a few months before the wedding and then loaded me up with free Crest Whitestrips. I still thank them when I go in for making my photos better. :)

I have been doing to my “pediatric” dentist since I was 3! I’m almost 25 and I can’t give him up… He is retiring in a year and I honestly don’t know what i’m going to do!

I’m using Crest Whitestrips right now and they work great! The last time I used them (two or three years ago) I had shooting pain so bad I vowed never to touch them again. I gave in and decided to try one more time (no pain, no gain right?) so my teeth would be perfectly white and I was surprised that I have had NO sensitivity at all so far! I have been using Synsodyne Toothpaste (for sensitive teeth) so that might be the reason.

It’s alot cheaper than going to get your teeth “zapped” at those one-hour teeth whitening places… plus I have heard of alot of people having major pain/sensitivity afterwards.

I got my teeth cleaned and did as much of the Crest Whitestrips regimen as I could stand… I have sensitive teeth and the strips made it much worse! I did have a good reason to want a cleaning though - I’d just gotten my braces off. :)

I had scheduled a cleaning in the morning the day before my wedding. But as time got closer I had to cancel since I had too much to do (it probably didn’t help that I only took the day before my wedding off from work–I know, crazy!).
I did do Crest Whitestrips for days before my wedding though (at least until my teeth got too sensitive, just like twelvetigers). They totally worked and I ended up with a nice, white smile in all my photos!
