Frocks And August 08 Brides

December 19th, 2007 @ 10:27 am by Mrs. Milkshake

Enter: Frocks in Vancouver on West Broadway near Arbutus. I think my bridal party should totally do an ad campaign. I wish it were the 1950’s - because then this dress wouldn’t be $350+ and there would still be such thing as a “send off dress” to give me an excuse to wear it. We had such a fun time at this store!

The store has such a great feel, it’s totally worth the trip no matter where in the lower mainland you live. The staff there is genuinely friendly, and not worried about you ruining any of the dresses (ie not watching you like a hawk as you take them on and off). It’s really homey with well-used hardwood floors, couches, magazines on a coffee table… and apparently they’re having a Boxing Day type sale on the 27th (although Boxing Day is technically the 26th - for those Americans that don’t know what that is - it’s Canada’s excuse for the “biggest” sales of the year, that in reality are like your everyday sales and nothing like Black Friday). I just noticed that they’re having a special deal for gals getting married in August 2008!

*10% off when ordering 1 or 2 dresses
15% off when ordering 3 - 6 dresses
20% off when ordering 7 or more dresses

Almost everything they carry is super customizable and rewearably-cocktail-dress-like. Designers include Charisa, Jenny Yoo, Kathlin Argiro, Lynn Lugo, Simple Silhouettes, and Thread.

Great photos! If you don’t mind me asking, what type of camera do you have?

Miss Milkshake, these photos look like they could be the advertisements for the dresses! You both look like models!

yes let’s bring off the send off dress!

i use an old 5.1 megapixel cybershot see this post because it’s the size of a credit card (although totally not as slim) and i bring it along with me to every bridal store to score indiscreet photos of dresses even when i’m not supposed to.

most of these pictures look so good because every time my BM and MOH tried on a dress, I dragged them to the front of the store to make use of their great window display and natural light. the key here is natural light.

the bad thing about all of this is i have really amazing photos of all my friends when we go on trips and even just casually, but none of me, or me-and-my-boy. hence the need for a really really good wedding photographer because good photos will really be a once in a lifetime experience. either that or i’m hanging out with the wrong crowd.

I love that pink dress too! And that super fancy green one…it would look great in some shade of blue (navy or royal).

i echo the above comments about how cute your pics are. and you look great in those dresses! i love your figure, you know exactly what highlights your body in the best way…. ;)

i understand the picture thing. i have soooo many cute fun pics of family and friends and sooo few decent nonposed pics of myself. its actually quite frustrating! i dont know why everyone around me is so inept with a camera in their hands!

These photos are adorable…. when I ready your last post about bridesmaid’s dresses, I thought those were pictures from a catalog! They looked very hip.

I agree that the pink eyelet dress is to die for and so, so flattering. Do you know who makes this? It is totally a dress I would wear to a summer wedding!

I wish I lived in Vancouver for the simple fact that there is a store called Frock!

the dresses look great! i ordered my bms (and flowergirls) dresses through that store and they turned out awesome. the service was great - the dresses were a little on the expensive side but were even more beautiful in real life than the sample. they don’t do altering there and you have to pay in full for the dresses when you order but other than that i was really happy with them and would totally recommend them.
