Album Help

December 20th, 2007 @ 5:16 pm by Mrs. Onion

We recently got our professional proofs in the mail — 5 archival boxes of prints with almost 1,900 images. Now I have to start narrowing those down and pick an album style and I need your help.

Daria Bishop Photography offers three different albumsQueensberry, Leather Craftsmen and Cypress. Based on the information I’ve found on each company’s website, I think I’ve ruled out the Queensberry albums as I don’t love the “magazine style” albums that they offer that are so popular right now. I want our album to stand the test of time both physically and aesthetically. So now it’s down to the Leather Craftsmen or the Cypress.

It looks like the Leather Craftsmen albums will really hold up over many years and I love the look of the mounted prints — very classic.

If I was picking just based on what I liked the look of best, I’d pick the Cyress. The hand made paper and the cloth cover is so visually pleasing, sweet and romantic. I’m just not sure that years from now it will be in very good shape.

I’d love to hear feedback from brides who have used Leather Craftsmen or Cyress Albums. What did you like and dislike about your album. Any tips — it’s hard to make this big decision without actually holding samples in your hands. For those of you who aren’t familiar with these album companies, you can check out their websites.

Note: These companies will only work with a professional photographer so if you want to make your own album with them, you’d have to have a photographer do this on your behalf.

Personally I would go for the Cypress album as it’s more my style. I don’t like leather, I find it heavy masculine and old fashioned and I don’t like the fabric options that they give very much either!

The cypress albums are really beautiful and a wedding album is something that you should love forever so it should reflect your personality and if the cypress ones do that more then I think that’s what you should go for.

If you keep in in a box and handle it carefully then I don’t see why it shouldn’t last for a very long time!

Thanks Cara — I really like the Cyress look as well but I don’t want to be nervous or worried every time we share the album with someone. We’ll have to see if I can get feedback from anyone who has used their products.

Mrs. Emerald — yeah, it was UNbelievable! Yes, her second shooter is her husband Andy, and they are a fantastic team. They work so well together and while Daria was with me at the salon and getting dressed, Andy was with Mr. Onion and his guys at the “Men’s Room” getting a shave and getting dressed. It worked out so well.

I have seen several sample albums from Leather Craftsman and LOVED them. They offer so many customizable options and look SO lush you can’t help but want to touch the cover! We actually chose our photographer in part because they were willing to work with this album company.

hopefully most people will treat your album with respect!

Good luck deciding! I’ve just emailed Cypress to see if we can use their albums for our business in the UK, they’re so gorgeous! And then hopefully for our wedding in August, yeah!

So thanks for sharing them, we’ve spent months looking for albums that are a bit different!
