Pashmina Me Up!

December 20th, 2007 @ 12:16 pm by Mrs. Milkshake

Pashmina Me Up! : wedding favors vancouver 544271084 9736101ac7 O pashmina2Pashmina scarves as wedding favors will work so well for an outdoor wedding. The image to the right is taken from Jo Gartin’s Weddings. Below features an image from a random ebay seller, where 50 scarves can run about $5.50 each. I’m kinda drawn toward the light green color, and the bridesmaids can have unique colors. I’ve heard the pashmina scarves are cheap in New York, and of course, in the markets in China.

Are you doing anything to help your guests stay warm?

i love pashminas~! since i live in nyc and frequent china a lot..i have a lot of pashminas now..hehe. they’re so cheap especially if you buy in bulk. i think the advertised price on the streets in nyc is maybe $5-8 each. but the more you buy the more you can bargain :) but a note of advice to touch the pashminas first. some of the ones aren’t as soft or the quality isn’t as good. especially since they often keep them in those plastic bags and put out a different one for you to touch.

I love this idea, I’ve always thought it was so adorable. I was just at a wedding recently though, where they did this and NO one took a pashmina. They had three huge baskets of flip flops as well, and no one touched them. How can you encourage guests to take them, besides the sign?

I had thought about getting pashminas for our guests, our 1pm outdoor wedding was 10/5. Luckily time got the better of me and I never ordered them. I say “luckily” because 10/5 in Philly turned out to be amazingly hot and humid.

It’s always nice when procrastination is actually helpful!

I’ve actually purchased pashminas for my bridesmaids for next month! We found them in ivory for $7/each at the Market in Charleston, SC - my mom is having them embroidered with the girls’ names.

I figure for a January evening wedding, the guests will cover up, but the girls…well, they may not plan for such things!

Sorry…I meant that they will be embroidered with the girls’ monograms. Wedding brain is getting the best of me once again!

I thought about pashminas, and if anyone lives in/near NYC I recommend it wholeheartedly! I was so surprised when I visited and there were stands all over Nolita selling nice pashminas for 3 for $10. I bet if you bought 50 or 100 it’d be even cheaper.

I gave a few as gifts and have been using the others, and they’re beautiful and warm.

I bought a bunch of different brightly colored silk scarves (that are the same style/size as the pashminas) on our trip to Cambodia. I am planning on draping them across the backs of the chiars so hopefully the guests will use/take them with them.
The pashmina basket looks beautiful!

That’s what we did for our ladies’ favors! We doubled them up as escort cards (pics in my link) so everyone took theirs. Some guests even already used them right then and there. It was a hit :-). We bought ours from Rainbow Bridge business and they ran about $5 each or something like that. The quality was very good. Very soft and just the right thickness.

We had an outdoor reception at the vineyard where Mother Nature decided to drizzle on us. It was cool enough that everyone loved using them!

We ordered 20 for our reception boy did they go! We found them on Amazon for 10 for 20$.

After I heard they went so fast, part of me wished I ordered more!!!

you get what you pay for. it’s better not to spend money on the “extras” and get a cheap pashmina that guests will not use after your wedding.

OOOOOh, I wish so bad that when I was in NYC this summer I would have picked up 5 pashminas for my bridesmaids. I’m getting married in May. Does anyone know if they same ones can be ordered online? OR even better, is there anyone living in NYC that would be willing to send some to me (in Canada?)

Why You guys will make some one fool by giving cheap viscose shawls as pashmina shawl, it’s better you give them a chocolate if you can’t afford pashmina, but why you will make a disaster wedding party, people will be talking more and more saying that we got this cheap things in her wedding.

Pashminas make great wedding favors as everyone would love them and the wedding would be more beautiful especially if the pashmina favors were displayed well on the table or chairs. I did my wedding with pashminas from Yours Elegantly and everyone was thrilled.

The real Pashminas comes from J&K, India. Its an animal wool. Its very soft and warm. Its so soft that doesnt hold any embroidery in it. So its often wooven with silk to have embroidery in it. The real Pashmina is so soft that the entire shawl can slip through a finger ring. Due to its expensive price point - it is now being made with 100% viscose in the same style. China is making it with 100% acrylic. The viscose ones are still softer and warmer than the acrylic ones.
Any one interested in bulk can approach Katrin at knhollak@gmail.com. I recently bought about 100 pcs for $4 (100% Viscose).
