Back in October, I lamented the lack of gorgeous wedding shoes for a monkey baby like me. However, pretty much right after I wrote that post, I stopped actively looking for my wedding shoes. This was partially because there were more important things to attend to (who was going to care what shoes I was wearing if we had no tent?), but mostly because, with the stress of work and Christmas lately, I really couldn’t face the idea of trying on things I knew would frustrate me.
However, recently my sole search started up again and I came across a really awesome find I had to share with you all, especially the bigfooted brides like me who find your average pair of shoes uncomfortable on a good day.
The find? Mohop. Inc, a small shoe manufacturer based out of Chicago. Not only are the shoes very cute and stylish, but they’re nicer to the environment than your average pair, with soles made out of recycled tires and sealed using enivronmentally friendly woods, glues, sealers and inks.
Basically, you choose the base you most prefer (you can choose from three different shapes, sole prints and elevations) and then, you can pick the types of ribbon straps you prefer. The base of the shoes and the straps come separately, so not only does that make every pair super customizable, but you can adjust them to be as tight or as loose as you want.
Some photos for your perusal:
The components:

(Since I’m so tall, I’m kind of digging the low to mid heel)
Examples of the finished product:

Cute little metallics with a bowed front.

Sophisticated and stripey grey.

A black ribboned pair with an awesome flamenco-like embellishment!

A cute little buckled green pair.

Who can resist a little preppy polka-dot?

A little leg-lacing a la ballerina style.

Adorable Asian Inspired ribbon!
The finished product does require a little orthopedic origami, but with every pair of shoes coming with a five-ribbon set, which you can use for plenty of practice. So, if you’re a summer bride looking for an adorable way to fancy up your feet for your special day, this could be a pretty cool option.
(P.S. Thanks to all the ladies who came out for my web chat on Monday and thanks to everyone who has been reading my blog posts this year. This is probably my last one for 2007 since I will be out visiting family for pretty much the rest of the year - we start our five cities in five days tour tomorrow night - but I’ve had a blast and can’t wait to jump back into things in the new year with exciting news and ideas. Cheers everyone!)
