Blurb Book Cover

December 29th, 2007 @ 12:42 pm by Mrs. Snow Pea

I need some help deciding on the cover of my blog book. Since it’s my wedding PLANNING book, I am undecided about whether I should use engagement or wedding pictures for the cover. I love them both, but it seems like the engagement picture would be more appropriate since it’s my planning book. On the other hand, I love our wedding photo and perhaps I should use the wedding photo since that’s the ultimate goal.

Which should we choose?

Since it’s a wedding planning book, I would lean towards the gorgeous engagement pictures and save the wedding photos for your wedding album?

Hmm, for the engagement photo version, why not switch the front & back photos so the copy isn’t going over your faces? Or maybe just keep the photo on the front but move the copy down? it would be a shame to cover up such a lovely couple! :-)

Oh hey Miss Cupcake, Thank you for the suggestion. Since posting, I have fixed that so the text doesn’t go through our faces.

My vote went to e-pics. I figured you’ll likely use the wedding pics on the cover of your wedding album…and a great way to use those great e-pics!

why dont you have the engagement photos for the front cover and then wedding photos for the back? kind of like the before planning then after math of it all? otherwise Isay do the engagement photos then save your wedding ones for your wedding album! =)

Thank you HamiHarri (and thanks for always commenting on my posts).

Lucyl, that’s a great idea. I thought about doing that. Maybe I’ll play around with that and see how it looks.

I vote for engagement pictures. Now that you’re married, you’ll tend to display the wedding pictures first, when people want a picture of you to display in their house, they’ll ask for a wedding picture, etc. We gave a few framed engagement pictures out to immediate family members for the holidays, and more than one commented that once we were married they would replace the picture with a wedding picture. Since wedding pictures get so much more “recognition” in the long run, this is a great use for your beautiful engagement pictures.

i love lucyl’s idea: engagement on front and wedding on back!

I vote for e-pics as well! I love how they turned out and even though your wedding pics are also gorgeous, there’s something about casual pics that I just always like better.

archicalgal,
The book has taken me several weeks to do. Collectively, I think it has taken 3-4 weeks, but I’ve been working on it slowly spread out over 4 months. Don’t be intimidated. the bees have great ideas and we love to share and help.

I love the first one with your engagement photo, but I think the font should be moved so it’s not covering up your faces.

Ms Polka says:

I vote for engagement on the front and wedding on the back- then it’s showing your journey from engaged to married.

Mrs. Onion says:

hey snow pea — i like the idea of engagement cover (as is) and the wedding back cover (as is). if not, i say engagement photos too assuming you’ll have a post-wedding blurb book too? i can’t wait to see this when you’re all done. i wish i had the motivation to do something like this.

I was going to say what lucyl said. The whole plan– engagement to wedding.

Danielle says:

why not a combo of both? engagement on the front and the wedding on the back? (start to finish) :)

Miss Flamingo says:

You know what… i love the cover e-pic but love the back of the wedding pic. Why not do a combo.
Then you have the beginning (engagement) and end (wedding)

If I would have to choose between the 2 I would go for the epics. ;)

archicalgal says:

thanks for the tip about the epics mrs snowpea! im going to call my photographer and see if he can cut me a deal tomorrow. i was wondering though… how many hrs does the epic session take? when we were first quoted for the epics he said it was $1500 for an hr. can you do it in an hr?

Mrs. Snow Pea says:

We did 2 hours and we were so tired near the end that we don’t even look that great in them. I think 1 hour is sufficient. My one other suggestion is to also make sure you get enough variety of “posed” shots. I mean, you and your fiance face and face next to one another looking at the camera. The photojournalistic shots are great but ultimately family will want pics with your faces and you can use them for you Save the Date cards etc. The photojournalistic shots will come naturally.

Why not have an engagement picture ont he front cover and a wedding pic ont he back. Since that is the beginning and end of the planning process.
