We’ll be posting over the next week, but it’ll be very light. I’m actually taking the entire day to change my last name! The courthouse, social security office and DMV are all open, and I figure they’ll be deserted today. Of course I’ll blog about the whole process afterwards.
We hope you’re warm and toasty and have the day off wherever you are! Happy Holidays!
Mrs. Bell Pepper, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 28, Resident PhysicianFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Resident PhysicianEngagement Date: May 30, 2006Wedding Date: June 2007Venue: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine ArtsAbout Me: I love whimsical details and design, everything that *sparkles*, sipping on hazelnut lattes, pugs, shopping for antiques and second-hand goods, scenic photography, delicate flowers, and checking out new restaurants in the city with my fianc??. We are planning our wedding at a unique city venue for about 75 close family members and friends. I have a lot of DIY ideas and I like to blog about ways to save money on your wedding.
We met the Snow Peas earlier in September when Mrs. Snow Pea invited us for dinner at their house. Since then we have become quite good friends with the Snow Peas. This year to pay them back for all their kindness, we decided to invite them over for a holiday dinner at our place. It was quite a challenge for me to create this dinner since I rarely cook more than one dish for Mr. Bell Pepper. I decided to prepare all of my favorite holiday dishes for this year, and here’s a recap:
Mrs. Lemon, Los Angeles/MontereyAge and Occupation in 2006: 26, Graduate Student (Public Policy)Fiance's Age and Occupation in 2006: 29, Environmental ConsultantEngagement Date: April 7, 2006Wedding Date: July 7, 2007Venue: Rosary Chapel & Monterey Marriott, Monterey, CAAbout Me: My FI and I met online, but we like to tell people that we met at a "cookie shop" which is the technical location of our first encounter. He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. I have a passion for all things "cool, cute and quirky" and I enjoy video games, reading blogs (WeddingBee, trashy celeb, consumer & political) and crafting in my spare time, if I have any!
This year, Mr. Lemon and I tried to hold each other to a $100 gifting limit. As a newly married couple, our pennies are going to the house fund, and we just cleared up the last of any lingering debt, so we’re trying to stay in the black! But honestly… we’re both BIG gifting people… and we couldn’t just send cards this year and feel ok about it. So… Mr. Lemon jumped on my holiday craftnanza wagon… and he approved of this year’s crafty gift: etched champagne glasses!

Thank you Bee, Bees, and Bee Readers for a wonderful 2007! It’s been incredibly exciting to be able to share in all of your life journeys. We hope you have a fantastic holiday with your families. Here’s to a great ’08!
Mrs. Bubblegum, Exeter, NHAge and Occupation: 24, Actuarial AnalystFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Ressearch & DevelopmentEngagement Date: February 9, 2007Wedding Date: May 2008Blogging Since: November 2, 2007Venue: Dunegrass Golf ClubAbout Me: I can be summed up by the four things I love most: kitties, cheese, math, and Mr. Bubblegum. I am knee-deep in DIY projects to keep wedding costs low but quality high for the special day when I get to marry my bestest friend.
Before being engaged, I would not have considered myself to be particularly crafty. I’d made a pillow here and there, but for the most part, I felt that I was willing to pay a premium to have a professional do the crafting for me. I would look at Martha’s ideas and scoff, “who has the time?”
Aaaand those were the days. What I’ve learned from being a DIY bride is that – crafty or not, time or no time – it’s just plain fun to make your own stuff. And with the holiday season upon us, I thought I’d take a minute to reflect on the five signs that you may be turning into Martha:
1. You make your own holiday cards
Common excuses include…
a) “There was extra decorative paper lying around!”
b) “It’s cost-effective!”
c) “I can think of better wording than Hallmark can!”

I also love to read, travel, drink champagne and go for walks with our dog, Maisy, and Mr. Peacock. We are planning our very vintage wedding in the greatest city in the world, our hometown of Chicago. I am so proud to be a Bee!
So, back to my dream wedding. I found these gorgeous invitations on {frolic} from Atelier Isabey awhile back and they would be perfect! I looked at the design and thought, “oh, I could use these for my imaginary English wedding!” and then I read the invite and realized that that was exactly what these were designed for.

A couple weeks ago I asked who you thought the top wedding photographers in the field were based on fame, name recognition, and editorial coverage (for a little project I’m working on). I have a couple down, but I need to choose one more and need your help deciding! Based on the aforementioned criteria and your responses, I’ve narrowed it down to these three - a little background info on each follows the poll.
Mrs. Cupcake, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 27, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Construction Project ManagerEngagement Date: February 10, 2007Wedding Date: September, 2008Blogging Since: December 7, 2007Venue: The Desmond Hotel in Malvern, PAAbout Me: Mr. Cupcake and I hit it off at a Halloween party and immediately began a long-distance relationship. After two years, he moved to my neck of the woods, and a year and a half after that, he proposed at the “place we fell in love.” I am a true perfectionist who enjoys designing and creating more work for myself, so wedding planning is my perfect outlet. Mr. Cupcake and I are both old souls, and we hope to weave that aspect of our personalities into our wedding day.
I’m sure it will be quiet in the hive over the next few days, so I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy holiday season, whatever holiday(s) you may be celebrating! Thank you to all of you for bringing lots of cheer into my life in 2007. I wish the same to you over the holidays and in 2008!
For those of you who celebrate Christmas and may have a little gift shopping left to do, how about a little Cupcake cheer? Johnny Cupcakes is a fun company based out of Boston that makes these great t-shirts and other cool items, with cupcakes replacing images in all different familiar pop culture icons. I discovered them online last year, and always get a kick out of their designs. It’s too late to order online in time for Christmas, but those of you in the Boston area still have a shot at picking up some of these super awesome designs

In honor of my childhood nights spent hibachi BBQing on the beach with my family, we are hosting a traditional New England Clambake for our reception.
Just came inside from taking a few pics of our house in the snow we have been receiving for the past three days. I figured I would post one since it looks so festive.
Mr Corn and I are headed to PA for the holiday and then on to California for New Years. In order to travel more lightly, we opened up a lot of our Christmas presents tonight…one of my gifts was a web cam!! YAY!! So I am hoping to broadcast again sometime in the near future.

I am a geek and apply game theory to my everyday life. Winter is my favorite time of year, especially when spent curled up with good coffee and a book by Madeleine L'Engle.
Things have been very busy over here for the holidays. We’re taking off tomorrow, but thought that we’d share with you some of the new tradition or two we have started this year. It is, after all, our first year living together, our first (and only!) Christmas being engaged, and the first time we have been around our home for the holidays. (Last year we were moving in December, and the previous years we were still in student mode.)One of the first things that we did was cut down our Christmas tree.

Mr. Flamingo and I wanted to wish all you Bees and weddingbee readers Happy Holidays. Sending you the warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. I found this card and thought it was perfect for the occasion.

good glass of wine. Most of the time I like to think I'm pretty organized, but between wedding planning, house hunting, and a full-time job, I'm being put to the test!
I think it must be just because it’s the holidays, and probably also because we’re getting so close to the wedding, but I’ve been thinking a lot about my grandfather in the last few days. I wrote this shortly before I became a bee:
My grandfather passed away last week. He was my Poppy — a big guy with a roar of a laugh and a beautiful head of white hair. He was a plane navigator (or “radio man”) with the 38th Bomb Group in World War II, flying in the Pacific.
