A New Year Tradition

January 2nd, 2008 @ 9:26 am by Mrs. Apple

Last night we weren’t planning on doing anything special for New Years. We just made a quick trip to one of our favorite sushi restaurants and onto Victory Park to see the opening of the new year. We decided to park close by our venue (Marie Gabrielle) to avoid the nearby traffic. As we were stepping out of our car, we decided to be spontaneous and visit Marie Gabrielle. The last time we were there was when we got married, so it would have been a great time to rekindle all of those feelings.

It sure did, even in 30 degree temperatures! Every winter they have a ginourmous and beautiful Christmas tree lit up in the center of the Euro garden with twinkling lights all around the trees. They always have the garden manicured and maintained so it’s always so pretty and green all year round.

I think we will try to make this an annual tradition to visit our wedding venue, and take photos just to capture the moment. I encourage you ladies to do this either on your anniversary, or another special celebration. It really makes you remember how special the day was. Maybe in 10 years we will have Huy from F8Studio take our photos there in the garden?! Crazy me and my ideas.

Has anyone revisited their venue after getting hitched?

Me! For my birthday dinner, we went back to the country club where we held our reception. It was so nice! I’m slightly sad though, because we won’t be able to go back again; you have to be members to eat there, and my parents didn’t renew their membership after the year lapsed. Bummer.

Oh, how fun! Mr. Magnolia and I are actually having our reception at a private club where we frequently attend events - just in a different room than normal! Believe it or not, we were actually there on New Year’s Eve! We always attend a NYE party there, so it will be great to revisit the site annually!

We were married at a B&B about 40 minutes down the road - I’d love to go back and stay there for a night every year to celebrate our anniversary - just not sure with all our other vacation plans if we’ll want to spend the $$. We do spend a lot of time on the river (which was our backdrop) - that’s always fun!

too cute! my FI and i just got engaged on christmas day! too celebrate, we re-created our “first date” which happened to be on new year’s eve 3 years ago. it was at a Denny’s (the only place that was open on new year’s eve”… and the site of our wedding venue is where we’ve had our valentine’s celebrations for the past 2 years… i love the idea of re-visiting the site!
