A Fresh Flowery Feel

January 3rd, 2008 @ 1:04 pm by Mrs. Daffodil

Happy New Year, Everyone! I can’t believe it’s 2008! Like the other bees getting married this year, I am so incredibly excited that 2008 has finally come!

I thought I’d start off the year with a peek into my floral inspirations. With our wedding in May, we’re really hoping to evoke a fresh lighthearted feel, going for mostly light spring green shades with a hint of creamy pinks and perhaps a slight bluish tint.

After browsing through endless amounts of pictures on the web and in magazines, I’m currently loving the round “fluffy” bouquets with little bit of texture. Flowers I’m currently loving: hydrangea, calla lilies, roses, lisanthius, and orchids.

I’m envisioning my bouquet to look similar to the one above, with more pronounced hints of blush and greens with white callas. The bridesmaids bouquets will be similar to the first picture, roses with hydrangea.

Below are some other looks that I love, for a bride who’s loving more vibrant colors. I love the way these bouquets look, and I’m considering their simplicity and structure as inspirations as well!

Finally, I’m incorporating a few cymbidium orchids into the day here and there. As of now, they’ll likely show up as part of the cake or ceremony decor as well as corsages worn by the mothers.

We’ve recently selected a florist, whom I will reveal in a few weeks after we go in to view our samples.

Some tips in visiting the florist: It was helpful to go in with a sense of what we liked, as it made for a productive conversation and a firmer pricing estimate. We shared all of the above photos with them, in addition to bringing a photo of the interior of our venues, to give them a sense of what the place looked like.

Daisy...

Not sure where I could post this question, but here it goes.
I just got engaged and wondered what months are considered peak season months for weddings and therefore more costly than other months? Does it even hold true?

Do you have a credit for the first picture with the cream and blue? I love it!

i likey the first picture very much!!!

Daisy…summer months are peak, like may-september-ish. non-peak would be around november-february. it might depend on the region. but i’ve heard you can save money by having a wedding during non-peak season. you could try posting in the boards for better responses.

I love that first bouquet! I haven’t thought about putting the roses and hydrangea together. For some reason I have only been thinking of these blossoms by themselves. I love the soft romantic feel the combo gives.

Daisy- Hey girl! I just got engaged too! 12-31-07. ;) Go register and post you question on the board. I’d love to see the response myself. my wheels are just beginning to turn too.

We are doing cymbidium orchids for the moms too! My mom is an orchid lover, so it was the natural (though expensive!) choice. I def agree with you on knowing what we want - I named off every flower I wanted and brought pictures but my quotes ranged by as much as 300 dollars! Word to the wise - shop around!
