Wedding Crap

January 3rd, 2008 @ 12:30 pm by Mrs. Snow Pea

I was trying to think of a funny acronym, but I couldn’t come up with one that sounded good. It is what it is. Wedding crap. With classes starting back up next week, it was finally time to tidy up all my wedding DIY materials, Christmas scrapbook and make room for textbooks and more wedding albums. Take a look.

BEFORE: Hurricane Post Wedding

Old Joann’s coupons, ribbon hat from my bridal shower, folder full of Catholic paperwork, bag full of gift bags and piles of textbooks.

I was cleaning while somewhat chatting on weddingbee tv.

Mrs. Bee’s cat Smokey kept me company sometimes.

AFTER: I’m one of those people who like to clean their room whenever I receive something new. My choice to finally clean this place up was further motivated by my new sewing machine. Look out in 2008 for my DIY sewing posts.

Seen here is our guest book, a photo from the night we got engaged, hand painted artwork I bought in Paris, my flower pens and a sketch of my wedding gown. On the floor is my collection of Martha Stewart Weddings magazines and storage boxes where I keep wedding cards and related things.

Close up shot of my wedding gown sketch. Karla, the designer of my dress sketched this for me as a post-wedding gift. I haven’t found a frame for it yet, but I am currently keeping it in this so it doesn’t get ruined.

What are you planning to do with your wedding crap after the wedding? Can anyone think of a cool acronym for me?

How about: Wedding Clutter, Refuse and Paraphernalia

or

Wedding Clutter, Rubbish and Paraphernalia

I weeded out the unessecary stuff and boxed up all the sentimental stuff. I took it out a year later and went through it again. I got rid of a few more things and found a better permanant storage box. These things require stages. :)

For things of this nature I allow myself one box. Mind you it is a one large rubbermaid box, but still it is contained and easy to store.
In your honor I’d like to suggest SNOW - Stored Nostalgic Oddments of the Wedding

Fallon says:

I like SNOW because all of the wedding stuff really does pile up.

How about W.R.A.P - Wedding Remnants A Plenty (also fitting as in “the weddings over and that’s a wrap”). Plus, it rhymes with crap…

Speaking of, mine just got put in a couple totes and shoved in the closet. I’ve since (a year later) gone through some of it and purged what isn’t needed or wanted anymore. But it sure does pile up!!!

I just started organizing my pre-wedding stuff as it starts to build up. All the craft supplies are getting a little crazy. For some reason I thought it was smart to save EVERY brochure from every caterer, venue, photographer, etc. even after I picked my vendors. Rubbermaid is helping me through it.

I love that sketch of your dress!

Is it bad that I’ve been referring to it as “crap” since about, oh, day two? What was it they called clutter in that Philip K. Dick novel? Kibble or something…wedding kibble.
