Mrs. Milkshake, Seattle/Vancouver, BC Age and Occupation: 23, Pharmacist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Pharmacist Engagement Date: May 2007 Wedding Date: August 2008 Blogging Since: December 6, 2007 Venue: Victorian Mansion About Me: Despite the fact that I’ve invested many long years of my life studying the sciences in college, I’m glad to be out of there and I would never do it again! I’m super artsy at heart - I run an indie craft site, I grew up shooting and developing my own film, doing jazz and ballet, and the whole gamut of art classes. I’ve been called a Jane of all Trades… but I was also told many years ago not to make my passion my career because it’d suck the fun out of it. Hence my choice of day job. About Mrs. Milkshake

I have to admit, I haven’t chosen a color scheme. I’ve just been tossing around ideas for the last 8 months.

orange

Here was my original inspiration for an “orange” wedding, via a Martha Stewart Weddings color issue. What truly excites me is that those diy poofy hanging flowers have my spherical ball shape that I’m obssessed with (more on that later). However, after looking at the orange flowers available, gerbera daisies (my favorite flower variety!) and tiger lillies just don’t cut it for me. Can’t they just carry an armful of satiny orange fabric?) Orange and blue are wonderful complementary colors!

So the best color on these fair beauties turned out to be navy. Look at the beautiful pintucking on the back of that dress from Frocks in Vancouver.

i completely agree — orange and navy would look beautiful. but actually there are a whole bunch of orange flowers to choose from — ranunculus, roses, tulips, dahlias, rust-colored callas (they’re beautiful!), echinacea pods, hypericum berries, bittersweet…those are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head. my centerpieces will be monochromatic orange flowers, so i’ve been thinking about this a lot!

YAY! We are thisclose to finalizing our color scheme, and blue and orange is a combo we’re leaning towards–with some chocolate or copper mixed in–not sure. Its silly, but seeing someone else doing this is a nice kind of affirmation. GL!

I was leaning towards an orange/cobalt blue combo for a few weeks, until we selected our reception venue, and discovered that cobalt and orange would clash with the pink and slate wall coverings therein…but I still think it’s a unique, lovely and striking combo.

That’s my color scheme! We’re having navy blue linens, BM dresses, and ribbons; orange flowers; and sage stationery (invitations, programs, etc). Here’s my bio, if you’re interested:

Rebecca covers it. Don’t despair, there are a ton of orange floweres that might suit you. She didn’t include honeysucckle in the group but they have some great peach and orange shades and it looks great sticking out a bit from the blooms to give dimension.

Orange and navy were my high school’s colors! They look great together, and I am a huge fan of navy.

My good friend’s husband is a huge broncos fan so she used cobalt blue & orange for her wedding. It looked fabulous!!

What a great color combo! But I must say, that I too harbor an affinity for the “poofy hanging flowers”, I want to mix those with some paper lanterns at our reception for some different shapes

I love those colors but they were unfortunately my high school’s colors as well as the colors of a rival university nearby so I couldn’t use them without representing the two schools. I love how they look together, though!

Thats our color - orange. Everytime I tell people our color is orange, they scrunch up their face - like eh orange? But I LOVE it! we found lovely orange floral invitations on http://www.weddingpaperdivas.com - our baker is incorporating the orange floral motif onto the cake. And for gorgeous quick and easy centerpieces we’re putting tangerines in a tall vase and a ribbon.
I love your post!

My wedding is Oct 25 and I’m toying w/ the idea of the idea of either a hunter green and orange or just recently I thought of the navy blue and orange. Blue is both my finace’s and my favorite color. But I love the contrast difference in color. And my dress has color on it as well, so doing the darker color on mine and on the bridesmaids and then the orange as an accent. I was hesitant at first on the blue/orange, but knowing others are thinking the same makes it a bit easier.

Love love love that V-neck dress. Who’s the manufacturer? (Incidentally, we are leaning towards light blue/orange/brown color scheme too…)

I’m so excited to have found a place on the web that people are actually in the same boat I am. Our wedding colors are blue and orange as well. When I tell poeple I get the funny face too! So now when I tell people I say royal blue and tangerine. I saw the color scheme in a bridal magazine and I loved how it popped. I originally wanted my bridesmaid dresses to be the blue with the orange sash, but now I’ve decided to accent with the orange. Our flowers will all be orange, the centerpieces will be orange and touches throughout will have the orange. I’ve been trying desperately to find some examples of orange and blue decorations, if anyone knows of any or any ideas I would love to hear and see them.

I too though am having problem finding decor other than floral in these colors…any help? I REALLY don’t wanna change my mind :)

Does anyone have pics from a cobalt blue/orange wedding? I just chose those colors for my own wedding and am having a hard time finding ideas online.

Thanks!

Danielle-
my colors are actually orange and baby blue. At first I was going for navy blue w/orange, but my wedding is in May and thought it might be a little dark. Then I saw a wedding pic where they used orange + baby blue and fell in love with it.

Any suggestions ladies on how to incorporate my accent color baby blue w/out over doing it?
