About Mrs. Lovebug

Not Even The Pets Are Safe.

January 7th, 2008 @ 6:08 pm by Mrs. Lovebug

A few days ago, star pupil LB asked how the development of our overwrought, overthought - erm, I mean, wondrously clever - wedding theme was coming along.

(If you missed the epic, here’s the Cliff’s Notes: Our wedding is themed “The Sweetest Type of Love.” Motifs of typing and candy with a romantic vintage twist.)

FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK, LB. Because I happen to have graphic evidence of just how seriously I’m taking it.

I’ve been compiling short videos of Mr. L ever since we got engaged; my thinking is that maybe I could make them into a short movie to show at the reception. So to practice using iMovie, I concocted a little flick - an homage to our pets, for Mr. L. Titled to match our wedding theme, natch!

(All the pets having “James” as a middle name is an in-joke; Mr. L has a rule that anyone living in his house has to share his middle name. And yes, that includes me.)

What do you think? Should I show this at the reception, too? Or will the guests think it’s dumb?

So cute! I love that song. How would you show it at the reception? Would it be like a speech- as in everyone is sitting down, watching it together? I think the little videos of Mr. L would be such a sweet, loving tribute to him.

HAHA. Great editing, Miss LB! I think it’s a fun idea to show it at the reception, but maybe a shorter version of it? The song is perfect!

I think it’s cute too, but I agree with Canary- shorten it by half.

Perhaps you could edit a small portion of this into your video of Mr. LB for the reception as “members of your family” perahps with a nod to the “james” thing you shared with us.

Hope you’ll document more of your last few months of planning with iMovie!

You guys are right, it needs to be shorter. I think I’ll do it over, add in the really good footage from this one.

Miss Peacock: I dunno. A large screen maybe? That’s a good logistic for me to consider, lol.

babagrishell: it’s really easy! you just upload your footage from a digital camera and iMovie (as is most Mac software) is really intuitively designed and easy to figure out.

YOU HAVE A SEAHORSE!!! I am in awe. Are they hard to maintain? I really want to add one to my salt water tank, but I thought they were pretty hard to care for…

I was just wondering because a friend of mine had her slide show playing on a screen behind her cake throughout the reception. I loved how all those old photos of them played for all their guests to see, since they had originally just played it at the rehearsal dinner. (The downside was that one of the photos included me in a bikini… for all the guests to see over and over again. Hey, Grandpa! Don’t mind that almost naked photo of me playing in rotation.) If you went that route, you wouldn’t really get your fun song, unless it was playing in another room, but I think that would be really sweet.

If you are going to play it like a speech, I think that it would be a good idea to make it a little shorter.

juliejulie: yes, they are very hard to maintain, unfortunately. and they either need to be in a seahorse-specific tank or a regular tank…but there are very few fish that will be compatible with them.

They need lots of tall weeds and hiding places, have to be fed several times a day, and do best in pairs. But if you can pull it off, they really are so beautiful and soothing to watch.

Miss Peacock: good advice, thanks. I love the idea of a slideshow going with all our old photos. :)

Great song, great movie! It may be on the long side. Maybe take your favorite shots and make it shorter. I would have liked to see the names with a picture (although I can use my imagination) but maybe all your guests know?

I had a siamese (although she was some sort of siamese mutt–but a wonderful cat) that we had to put to sleep before Christmas. :-( She lived 21 great years, though, and had a high quality of life–I hope you have your family members around just as long. :-)

Is your greyhound super big for a greyhound? It just seems extra tall or something–ha ha! But not a deer…the tail gives it away. :-)

Wow - two lop-earred bunnies, one siamese, one rather active greyhound and a wee little seahorse - what a menagerie of pets to love on every day. :)

Your vid is cute, shorten it a bit as you’ve said and I think you have a winner!

Buns are loving all the attention. Wsukarebear: I don’t believe he is. Maybe he looks big cuz he’s next to all the other tiny pets..?
