27 Dresses Premiere Extravaganza

January 8th, 2008 @ 5:00 pm by Mrs. Peacock

I’m not sure if it’s my wedding brain, that awesome Regina Spektor song playing during the preview or my crush on Katherine Heigl, but I am very excited to see the movie 27 Dresses.

Those dresses look AWESOME… as does James Marsden. Whoever is producing 27 Dresses is teaming up with Palm and the Princess Project to collect your old (no older than 2002) bridesmaids dresses. The first 27 people to show up at the screening with your entry ticket and a bridesmaid dress will receive a Palm smartphone. The phone doesn’t get me as excited as the special screening and donating a few old bridesmaid and formal dresses. I have been wanting to donate to the Glass Slipper Project but somehow I keep missing their events. Has anyone else donated a dress to a program like this? Did you have a good experience?

I got to see a sneak preview of this movie in NYC right before the New Year; it was great! I took my MOH with me and we laughed through the entire movie. In high school, my school organized a dress collection and donated the dresses to a school in West Virginia for their prom. I didn’t get to go down to deliver them but the girls who did get to go said it was a life changing experience.

OMG I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THIS MOVIE! I was quite sad when I heard they pushed back the date to NEXT friday. Me and 2 of my bridesmaids were going to see it this Friday! I even sent them a google calendar thingy!

I donated a few of my prom dresses from 4 years ago to a similar program… I am very proud of the fact that I picked classic gowns sans gimmicks so that they could still be worn– although something tells me that grad school is going to make it impossible for me to ever ever be a size 2 or 4 again! It felt really good to know that girls who would never have been able to go to their prom, due to the high cost of gowns nowadays, might now be able to!

That sounds awesome! And I can’t wait to see the movie - I might take the maids - I have a few in my wedding who have near 27 dresses themself! LOL.

I saw a sneak preview too - I thought it was just an okay movie but the subject and Katherine H. are awesome. :) And you can’t go wrong with James Marsdan. :)

Movie Marketing Madness » Palm collects dresses for 27 dresses promotion says:

[...] That’s a good way for the studio and Palm to accomplish a variety of goals in one swoop. Palm gets to seed a largely female audience with their Centros, hopefully starting a conversation there. Fox gets to put the movie in front of people who will hopefully spread the word before its release, something that can lead to a better opening weekend box-office take. And all of it comes with a charitable component that allows people to feel like they’re doing a bit of good, a fuzzy feeling the two companies then get a halo effect from. [via WeddingBee] [...]

I saw 27 dresses over the weekend and absolutely loved it. Especially her 28th dress. That wedding gown was amazing. I’m getting married in the Spring 2009 and having a beach wedding and have been looking for something simple like that. Does anyone know who the designer is?

I particularly loved the flowers in the Indian wedding (near the beginning)… can anyone tell me where I could see a picture of them?

Thank you!
