Color Palettes — Beyond The Wedding

January 10th, 2008 @ 1:49 pm by Mrs. Tulip

We didn’t have much trouble coming up with a color palette for the wedding. But we’ve started thinking about combining houses after the wedding, and it turns out there are so many more color palettes to consider!

For a long time I worried about the kitchen. We both have a LOT of kitchen goods, and it makes more sense to keep most of what we’ve got as opposed to registering for something new. But my color scheme is “mostly blue”, while Mr. T’s is “yellow and green.” It seemed too different.

And then, one day, I was putting away one of my bowls and one of his bowls (I’ve got a few of his extras) and discovered this:

The three colors actually work quite well together! And, as it turned out when I looked in my cupboard, there was more yellow/green than I originally realized:

The only trouble? Mr. T opposes the florals. And I can’t blame him; he’s a guy. I’d be sad to see my florals go, but truth is, I got them at a thrift store so it’s no big financial loss.

But without the florals, we’d lose the multi-color pieces that tie everything together…. So here’s a question for all of you who have been out there poring over registries: Anyone have suggestions for how we could tie together aqua/yellow/green without a floral?

Villeroy & Boch has some cute french country-looking dishes with these colors. They aren’t exactly masculine — they feature fruits — but aren’t floral either.

Or maybe you can get some nice Deruta-style servewear that incorporates those colors?

We registered for the Mediterra Menorca & Malta line from Lenox. It has aquas, blues and a hint of cream. We picked it because it’s mix and match style. The design resembles Mediterranean mosaic tile floor and my fiance loves it! You have to see it in person too, it’s gorgeous!

Maybe find something with stripes? There’s so much beachy-colored stuff out there that there’s bound to be something.

Maybe it’s just me and my obsession with FiestaWare, but why not just mix it all together? We’re planning on registering for two (or three, if I can talk FI into it) different colors of FiestaWare and just mixing it all together.

fiestaware is really fun! also, jadeite is a beautful green color (my mom collects it off of ebay), and it’s a little more “thrift store-y” like your current collection.

Check out “Riverside Design Group” — they have GORGEOUS plates in all different colors that look like sea glass! They sell through a couple of online stores, which is how I found them.

What about the Denby “Caramel” line?
