Pretty Little Lavender Cones

January 10th, 2008 @ 12:45 pm by Mrs. Peacock

I fell in love when I saw these on Something Old, Something New:

I hadn’t really thought about the post ceremony “throw something at the bride and groom” part. I have seen fun pictures of bubbles, ribbon wands and sparklers, but nothing really caught my attention. These lavender cones have gotten me thinking. They are an environmentally friendly option. They also smell really wonderful. Lavender is one of my most favorite scents. It is just so organic and relaxing. I would love to be surrounded by this as I walk down the aisle. I wonder how it would photograph when tossed. Has anyone seen this done?

Here is a link to the DIY instructions and a spot to buy the lavender.

I haven’t seen it done - but it’s very pretty!! We made our own paper cones and did ribbon rick rack along the top, used copper wire for handles and then filled them with feathers! (light brown/mix ones) I hope it works out well!

you can also use dried rose petals (cheaper than fresh, can be stored in advance, and they dont stain your dress or the floor). We are using red and cream colored rose petals for our wedding toss and the pictures I have seen are fanatastic from other brides. I dont know how well lavender would show up but hey look around you might find some pictures. We got our rose petals from flyboysnaturals.com and they are really nice, I know they also have peoney and hydranga petals as well.

Great idea! Was thinking of incorporating lavender too…but in a different way, by making sleep eyemasks for the BMs as part of their gift.

Don’t do it! We did it at our wedding and we thought it was such a great idea. Well- we couldn’t breathe at all when people were tossing- we just inhaled lavender. And it got everywhere, even in the hem of my husband’s pants. Also- our lavender left a gray residue on everything. I mean, we smelled great, but it was EVERYWHERE!
