Our cake topper situation is a done deal, but if you’re still looking for your cake’s crowning glory and want something out of the ordinary, take your time looking around and remember that these days, there are about as many options for toppers as there are for shaping fondant!Etsy artist Mikazuki81 can make these beautiful Japanese wood dolls in either of these two shapes, and customize them, too!

Birds not your thing? That’s alright, go to the dogs! Look at this handsome couple by mykonos, also at Etsy:

There are many custom routes available. These toppers from Etsy seller oilpainta, at about $100, have a perfect crafty feel:

And is this amazing or what? It’s a Vintage Style Spun Cotton Wedding Cake Topper, and this Etsy seller can also “antique a digital photo of you and your bride or groom to be included in a custom piece”!

Etsy is always a great place to look, but here are some of my other favorite vintage & contemporary cake toppers, these available through Fancy Flours:

If your cake topper is a done deal, too, tell us why you chose it and where you found it!

We are using bride and groom pez dispensers. I collect them and the pride and groom ones are so cute. They don’t make them anymore, and they are expensive on ebay. Hallmark made a christmas ornament that looks just like the pez dispensers but they are smaller. I bought them the day after Christmas for $7.

I bought a beautiful, handpainted bride and groom riding a bicycle with a white puppy in the front basket of the bike. My Fi and I own an adorable white shih-tzu and this just fits us so perfectly! The only downside is that I had to order it all the way from Paris, but it’ll be more than worth it! :)

I love, love the wood dolls. I wish I would have found something like that a bit earlier. We are just using fresh roses for our topper.

I’m using the cake topper that my great-grandparents used at their wedding c. 1930. It’s two basic figurines, and the bride is wearing a ballgown style lace dress. I’m also wearing lace, and the coloring of the figures matches us pretty well. I just like using old things, especially things that symbolize my great-grandparents’ marriage which lasted over fifty years.

I LOVe the wooden dolls. In fact, I have a tattoo based off of them, and I have a few because I want to start collecting them. I have my mom ( who is Okinawan) asking her friends and relatives in Japan to keep an out for super cute ones to send to me.

I mentioned this in another post, but we’re getting custom Mii cake toppers from a friend of ours named Paul Pape. Mr. Fiance ordered a pair of custom figurines for us for V-Day last year, and then Paul offered to make us cake toppers when Greg proposed. He can even do really intricate details like pinstripes on suits and lace on the dress. I’m so excited to see what he does for us.

P.S. The hands have little magnets in them so they can click together. HEE!

Here is a picture of our cake topper I DIY-ed to imitate the uber-expensive Patch NYC toppers and similar to the custom toppers by oilpainta.
